I think the three most memorable have to be The Stooges, the Le Beat Bespoke festival in London and finally Radio Birdman. I think there are others that I highly enjoyed but these are just too good!
For me it was :
- the Canadian band Teenage Head...all ages show in 1980..they were in their prime....I walked away inspired !
- 'From The Jam'....it was this year....ok, only 2 guys from the original Jam...but I sang and bopped along to every tune like I was 16. They were so good.
- The Dictators in 2001 at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.....stood at the front near the mains...lost my hearing for almost 2 days.......but holy shit they rocked the house!
I feel like I should have elaborated a bit more. I saw The Stooges in San Fransisco on Iggy's b-day a little more than a year ago. He let people storm the stage and he was soo rock'n'roll, he put me to shame at my 22 years of age at the time. In the LBB I saw The Sonics which rocked but I also stayed up until six or five in the morning dancing to garage music which doesn't happen in the US because they close at two :( Radio Birdman I saw last year as well and their energy is just amazing. I couldn't stop dancing.
The Fleshtones, anywhere, anytime, every show i've seen them do (probably seen them 10 or more times)...the way they come down from the dressing room marching through the crowd, playing their instruments, doing their shout along chants!! If that doesn't get you moving, nothing will!!!
Ray Condo and His Hardrock Goners....again, anywhere, anytime, every show i ever saw them do....250% pure energy!!! The way Ray's leg would get a twitchin' as he strummed the living shit out of his guitar and screamed into the mic!!! Pure rock and roll energy....
The Swinging Neckbreakers at Call The Office in London about 10 years ago....only about 10 people in the crowd but that didn't stop the SN's from blasting us with pure adrenalized rock'n'roll!!!!
there's so many more....Fuzztones/Pandoras/ at Irving Plaza NYC around 1985.......Bloodshot Bill in London this past weekend....Simply Saucer in London last month....Hasil Adkins in Hamilton, mid 80's....Dictators in London about 5 or 6 years ago....Jerry Jerry opening for Lost Ryders in Hamilton Ontario, the same day a tornado hit Jerrys hometown.....Fuzztones in London Ontario late 80's.....King Khan and His Shrines, last year in London Ontario...Goddo in London Ontario mid 70's....oh the list goes on and on and they are all such AMAZING memories....
1. The CRAMPS - 1992, Vancouver. The band was on fire, The audience was as much a part of the show, kind of like a gigantic Mad Tea Party on a spring-loaded dancefloor. It changed everything I ever thought I knew about performing.
My favorites were Turbonegro at The House of Blues in New Orleans, The Cramps at the Shim- Sham in New Orleans, and Toots and the Maytalls at the Majestic in Detroit. Also seeing the Pogues with Shane McGowan in Detroit was pretty damn good, too! So many more, but these were some of the best.
1,Thee Mighty Caesers @ Las Vegas Grind 99(amazing bands all weekend anyway)
2,Stewed and The X Rays @ Nottingham Old Angel 95',find some Stewed, one of thee greatest bands of all time.
3,Demented Are Go @ Klub Foot 88,my first and only time at the Klub Foot, amazing.
Honourable mentions go to..
Man Or Astroman,The Sting-Rays(last ever gig),The Prisoners,Groop Dogdrill,Guana Batz,The Who,i could go on forever.
