Whats your favourite albums from the first Punk era 76-80 ?

I love the first Clash album...so much damn energy...and it sounds today more like an English garage band than so called punk.

I'll choose three:

The Saints' first two albums; Stranded and Eternally Yours and The Crack by The Ruts.

If we went up to '81 I'd pick that old favourite compilation; Dance Craze.

Yeah I think Mr. Billy Childish owes The Clash a lot.
Maybe I'm too open minded, but I think every punk-related album I've heard from that era is great. I like Marquee Moon, Blank Generation, and Ramones quite a bit. I think I've strayed more towards hearing groups on a song basis though, instead of albums. There's plenty I haven't heard too.

Yes true...come to think of it, there were also alot of singles as well....not always albums....so songs count too..haha.

I agree with you the first Clash album was one of the most impressive albums of all time.

There were SO MANY great records released back then, it's hard to remember them all...here's a few off the top of my head that i still dig to this day:
The Saints...Stranded...ya, Lost Soul mentioned it as well. it's killer from top to bottom.
The Vibrators....Pure Mania....so many songs and all good.
Wire....Pink Flag.....like above
Siouxsie and The Banshees....The Scream....killer guitar sound.
Teenage Head....First Album....rockabilly on speed.
The Cramps....Songs The Lord Taught Us....liked Psychedelic Jungle even more, but it's from 1981
X Ray Spex....Germ Free Adolescence....buzzsaw guitar
all of The Ramones LP's within the time period.
The Dead Boys....Young Loud and Snotty.
The Pebbles compilation series....those records opened up a ton of doors for me....

Good choices Dave.
Pure Mania....yes!....its still such a great party album....its pub rock sliding into punk...very tight band.
Teenage Head's debut....need I say I thing?
First 2 Dead Boys...but yep YLAS is the classic.
Wire....the remastered cd of Pink Flag out last year...awesome.....still kills!

Alot of that era still hold up well today.

I do like the Clash's first album as well, but I think I prefer the Ramones. Some of the bands from that period tend to sound dated now, but the Ramones always sound fresh and exciting to me.
