Whats your favourite albums from the first Punk era 76-80 ?

I love the first Clash album...so much damn energy...and it sounds today more like an English garage band than so called punk.

I once had a punk collection album sent to me by an Italian friend simply called Punk Collection Vol I (I think) and it featured trax like Fall Out by early Police and other bands like The Damned, The Boys, early Patti Smithetc. ..........it had a beautiful picture of a loo on the cover....don;t remember much else about it thou.

OK OK enough enough..... Introducing the best garage punk (yes it should be separated in this case) album of the 70's.

I agree with The Clash and Ramones. All their albums of this era are great - I even cannot select which one of them is better.

But if to add the band no one mentioned here before (or I did not notice), I would pick Cock Sparrer's "Shock Troops". Although it is a little bit out of 76-80 range, I believe it can be deemed to belong to the same era. I love it as strong as The Clash's albums.

I probably posted in this discussion before! Anyway...

1. First 3 Ramones albums.
2. Young Loud & Snotty - Dead Boys
3. Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables - Dead Kennedys
4. Minor Threat - Minor Threat

I saw the Ramones and Dead Boys many times at CBGBs and around NYC in mid and late 70s, amazing shows! I saw Minor Threat once, that was also excellent. Never saw the DKs.

They sure did ! I used to live 'round the corner from where they did the photos for the album cover. At the time it was an abandoned old house...I hear that today it's now a yuppie restaurant, how sad ! Cheers, Wig

I found that comp last year at a record store. It's fantastic. Classic punk tunes from the late 70's. Solid choice.

naturally the pistols never mind the bollocks is the leader of the pack. they solidified the entire movement. this is an iconic album.

yeah! the first Ramones started it all really......the ultimate garage band album...and first punk album.

I wanted to mention Sex Pistols Never Mind The Bollocks too originally....maybe seems a bit too obvious...but really that was a classic..without them where would punk be.

I wonder if this will ever get to court? The BBC has been doing this sort of podcast for years from their websites, does this company really think they can mess with the BBC? and I wonder if the person who did the first ever serialised podcast wil...

Interesting subject this one... This might sound weird but the podcasts from here sound "warm" as opposed to full blown 256kps or 320kps Mp3's that sound crystal clear but somehow flat and lifeless. I guess they get close to that dirty tape sound...

For those of you that enjoy great '60s music, but crave to hear some music that Oldies stations do not play, you've come to the right place. No overplayed oldies, just songs from groups that seem to fall of the radar of most classic rock stations....
