I think we should collect all our faves records together and have a party..haha...lots of great music being mentioned....this era was...and is.. a great time in music!
also a quintessential punk single, it really sums up that english punk vibe...although not many people know it..
Life / Love Lies Limp - Alternative Television (ATV)
I don't really see that. I'm sure Mr Childish would be the first to admit that originality of styel is not quite top of his list but I don't really hear The Clash coming through. On The Buff Medways stuff I got a lot of The Who.

Damned Damned Damned - the Damned
Young Loud and Snotty - the Dead Boys
Black Generation - Richard Hell and the Voidoids
Im sorry, but I dont see whats so great about the clash, I never really got into them
I have to agree with 90% of the bands mentioned, I still listen to heaps of those albums.
One artist that really turned me onto punk rock was Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
I bought New Boots and Panties sometime round 1978/79 and it opened up a world of alternative / underrepresented / underground rock to my young tender ears. From there it was a very easy progression to the Stranglers, The Damned (Damned,Damned,Damned is one of my top 10 LPs), the Jam, Black Flag and more.
More punk in attitude than sound but I have to chuck it into the mix.
Eater
The Sex Pistols
The Damned
The Ramones
The Boys
The Stranglers
The Heartbreakers
New York Dolls
Blondie
God I'm old. Some of these I have seen perform in their original line up...
I didn't mention the Clash because they were too "political" for me. Too thought out or how do you call it. That they were trying hard to be smart and political correct.
If only more bands were politically progressive. I just didn't like The Clash because they were dull. Bring back The Redskins, The Blaggers and The Upstarts.
The Redskins now there was a top band. I put out a tribute album to them a few years back - http://www.cdbaby.com/redskins
The Redskins were big fans of The Clash, infact the Redskins frontman Chris Dean used to play a tele that was originally owned by Joe Strummer. They also covers 'Coplete Control' which I put up on the Redskins MySpace page a few weeks back - http://www.myspace.com/redskinsunofficial
Bravo! I thought I had it but I just dug it out and it's just the EP on vinyl with The Power is Yours, Lean on Me, Kick Over the Statues, Bring it Down and Whether.
For those of you that enjoy great '60s music, but crave to hear some music that Oldies stations do not play, you've come to the right place. No overplayed oldies, just songs from groups that seem to fall of the radar of most classic rock stations....
Show #256: "The Eggman Collection #74"
Every 3 weeks I do a series of shows called The Eggman Collection, which originally was an old tape/cd collection of songs that I like. Now since I have little time due to work and stuff, I made it into a ra...
