Desperate Bicycles- Another Commercial Venture (this one is totally overlooked)
minutemen- what makes a man start fires (was this pre-80?)
pere ubu- modern dance or dub housing
Au Pairs- Playing with Different Sex
first Clash album
suicide's first album
crass- feeding of the 500 (yeah, it's the old school gutter punk in me, sue me)
fresh fruit for rotting vegetables and the first four years are in there too...
least favorite:
anything blondie (NEVER understood the appeal of that pasty white chick with sub-par pop musicians)
ya know, I do like some of their stuff, but I also don't treat them as gods. I haven't really liked much that came from the Clash spinoff bands, except for Big Audio Dynamite, and we must remember that The Clash's popularity inspired one of the suckiest things to ever happen to punk; Studio Punk. I also tend to feel that punk and reggae don't mix too well, though I will admit that the Clash and some others, like Rancid have pulled it off well at times. And Joe Strummer's latest work sounded downright boring to me.
Yeah Damned, Damned, Damned can't be better. I consider it a perfect album, and I love love love Buzzcocks, even when they went more poppy. I feel that they were one of the progenitors of the late 80's britpop sound, like Squeeze, XTC, etc, even though they were somewhat contemporaries. Rezillos: Gotta love the Farfisa. I think the Stranglers are hit or miss, and I don't really think punk when I think the Stranglers. I never really got into Blondie that much. Eh... you can never be too political, just as long as you're not a demagogue.
There's a lot of good albums from that time period:
The Damned - Damned Damned Damned
The Ramones - The Ramones, Leave Home, Rocket to Russia
The Cramps - Songs the Lord Taught Us
The Heartbreakers - LAMF
Wire - Pink Flag
Before the Cramps I knew some RnR acts (the big names from the 50s & 60s) but after the Cramps I discovered a whole new world of music. So they have a lot to answer for ;D
The Damned - Damned Damned Damned
Johnny Thunders & Heartbreakers - LAMF
The Nipple Erectors/Nips - The Tits of Soho
The Cramps - Gravest Hits
Slaughter & the Dogs - Do it Dog Style
Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material
and so on..I like lots of punk albums of that years!
i'm so stupid that this is the first time that i saw this new page have a new forum... a bit strange...
favourites here... damned x3, adverts - crossing the red sea, kbds two first comps, 1st black flag EP, red cross EP, circle jerks - group sex, 1st clash LP, raxola, hubble bubble, the pack, firt two kids LPs, buzzcocks - singles going steady, can't stand the rezillos, germs - gi, screamers, pagans... fuck. this list is stupid
english: damned,buzzcocks,adverts
usa: ramones
i think the first damned LP is the perfect punk album, the adverts is the perfect SOFISTICATED punk album
For those of you that enjoy great '60s music, but crave to hear some music that Oldies stations do not play, you've come to the right place. No overplayed oldies, just songs from groups that seem to fall of the radar of most classic rock stations....
Show #256: "The Eggman Collection #74"
Every 3 weeks I do a series of shows called The Eggman Collection, which originally was an old tape/cd collection of songs that I like. Now since I have little time due to work and stuff, I made it into a ra...
