Whats your favourite albums from the first Punk era 76-80 ?

I love the first Clash album...so much damn energy...and it sounds today more like an English garage band than so called punk.

Cocksparrer, Cockney Rejects, the Rezillos, (Hammersmith) Gorillas - proto punk around then too, Suburban Studs, Johnny Moped, Magazine, Radio Birdman, Menace, the Outcasts, the Adicts, Subway Sect, Swell Maps, Plastic Bertrand, and of course the early Ramones albums.... Punk rock was my first love!

Really into the UK82 thing too.

Hm, Not sure Billy actually liked the Clash...maybe live. ATV and Johnny Moped are far stronger influences on the Pop Rivets through to the MBE's and the Masonics... The first Clash LP has great songs but the recordings are a bit bland to me, especially when compared to Damned Damned Damned.

Which leads me to my twopence worth of an opinion - (or even three pennies worth)

Damned Damned Damned - The Damned
Psycledelic - Johnny Moped band
The Image has Cracked - ATV (even though Jools 'bloody' Holland ruins the beginning and end of one of the best punk tunes ever - Viva la Rock 'n' Roll)

Definately worth more than a mention are THE PRATS, their single 'Inverness what a mess' is sheer punk rock genius! *especially given their ages when they recorded - 12 years - 15 years old in 1977!!

For those of you that enjoy great '60s music, but crave to hear some music that Oldies stations do not play, you've come to the right place. No overplayed oldies, just songs from groups that seem to fall of the radar of most classic rock stations....
