In the spirit of bring this board back to some real, proper garagepunk topics, let's talk screams.  You know, "Yeah!", "Woo!", "Hey!", "Ow!"... who's got the best mid-song, mic-distorting, wildest, craziest, rawest scream in rock 'n' roll?  Little Richard may have been one of the originals, but I think that no one can HOWL like Jerry Roslie from the Sonics.  Who do you say?

I was wondering when someone was going to get around to Roky Erickson. Buddy Randell (The Knickerbockers) has a great scratchy howl as well.

Hasil Adkins laughing and screaming and everything in We Got A Date is just plain fucking terrifying.
I fucking love that song! So demented!

Those are all great suggestions. I guess, off the top of my head, as far as new-ish bands go these days, the singer from the Konks lets a few good ones rip on their record.

It's the twisted brain-wrong of a one-off man-mental. Hey, that's a great name for a band; One-Off Man-Mental & The Twisted Brain-Wrongs.

I still think Little Richard is the best screamer of them all.
The first two things I thought of:

The screams that start every track of Funhouse

and (this will blow some cred) the scream at the end of the guitar solo before the last chorus of "Won't get Fooled Again"). All these years later, despite all the overplay and the whole CSI thing, it still gets me.

I'm with you there! Cred shmed. It's a great moment in rock music.
Matt Caughtran from The Bronx has a scream that makes me want to down a bottle of rotgut whisky and set a couch on fire http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3f8VUZ5xAU
but maybe it's just me
Roky for sure. It just kinda cuts through you when he let's loose
