Blessed are the DJs who do not use reverb/delay/voice effects when talking...

...so that the less fortunate can hear the set list when you announce it.

Blessed are those who have style rather than gimmick. I succumb/subscribe to you.

And Gaw' bless the ones who comment their setlists. Seriously sexy.

Especially blessed are the talking heads. Yammer away. I think all your talk, talk, talk is cute.

...Just catching up on all the podcasts. Great job and thanks for keeping it going, Kopper. Btw, when's the last time you did a podcast?

I agree to a point. I dig the reverb when just saying funny stuff. I'm a big fan of reverb in almost any form. But I do agree that hearing the setlist clearly is a great thing.

True. I guess I shoulda said "heavy handed, constant-to-the-point-of-grating" reverb.

A lil goes a long way, cats.

The best DJs used reverb. Ever listened to some of the great DJs of the '50s and '60s? Dewey Phillips, Allan Freed, Wolfman Jack, The Mad Daddy, Murray "The K" Kaufman, Mad Mike Metrovich, Johnny Rabbitt, The Real Don Steele, Boom Boom Brannigan, Johnnie Walker, Casey Casem, Robert W. Morgan, Dr. Don Rose, The Emperor Bob Hudson, Russ "The Moose" Syracuse, Rick Shaw, Bobby Ocean, James "The Hound" Marshall, etc. etc. etc.

Only the boring modern radio jocks don't. Who wants to be like them?

Haven't done a podcast in months. Been preoccupied. Check my blog and that should explain everything.

I did check your blog earlier *after* I commented (me: "Gee. Maybe something more important is going on in Kopper's life than podcasting. Let me check his blog...") Again, my heart goes out to y'all.

Good schooling! A few you listed I haven't heard of and I'll have to check out! Again, not knocking the tradition, just using too much verb 100% of the time to the point where I can't-understand-a-word-coming-out-of-your-mouth. Counter productive. Sorry.

Then maybe you'd enjoy my surf podcast. http://chickenlips.mypodcast.com/2009/10/Episode_1_surf_surf_surf-2... And I made sure to type the setlist out too. No gimmicks - its about the music. Lemme know what you think, anyone who listens.

"type the setlist out"
cool thing for people who don't really understand english.

Oof!
I'm guilty as charged.

I'm like a echo-y kitten caught up at the top of a tall, gimmicky tree!

help.

And what about Lux Interior in his "Purple Knif Show" ???
I definitively love reverb'...and Dan Electreau of course !

Good point.
My entire schtick was ripped offa the Purple Knif show - and unless you've watched hundreds and hundreds of shitty invasion movies where the aliens talk all garbled, it's a bit hard to understand everything he's saying. That's why I love it.

Oh by the way, I don't even need any reverb' nor any effects to be real hard to understand when I talk :

I just come from somewhere else !!!

Sorry for your ears.
But I do type playlists.

Having no gimmick is the worst gimmick of all.
