If there isn't already, or plans underway, this would be amazing.  You know, sorta like Goner Fest, but GaragePunk Hideout fest! :)

Are you gonna organize it?

Haha, yeah! These sorts of things are a HUGE undertaking. Yes, the subject has come up or has been suggested before, lots of times. The problem is the logistics of such a festival. I organized a festival in St. Louis in 2007 that included a whole bunch of garage/punk/rock'n'roll bands from the state of Missouri (it was called the Show-Me Blowout) and that alone was enough to make me realize I never wanted to attempt anything like it again.

But yeah, if anyone else here wants to organize it, go ahead. And good luck! :)

If it happens i want to play... haha

That was the most unpredictable response I've ever saw coming.  Very profound.

But yeah, I'd do what I could to help! :)

What city would you have it take place?

Well, if it's kinda like make-believe I guess we would do one on each continent (or at least North America and Europe). I would organize the Euro side of things (after I received generous donations from GaragePunk Hideout members totaling 20,000 Euros). I would probably do it in northern Italy or Switzerland - Springtime or early summer starting in 2014 because of logistics! Or Autumn in Germany. Preferably Berlin! Can't wait!

Couldn't we do it in Essen? Berlin gets all the glory, and I could help out on the beer stall.

Your absolutely right. The Ruhrgebiet is more Garage than Berlin! But what about Köln? Wait a sec, we could just rename the Soundflat Ballroom Bash as The GaragePunk Hideout Ballroom Bash. That would save a lot of money and hassle. Done. Who's going?

Jon Weiss posted a blog entry here recently mentioning he may revive the Cavestomp! festivals in NYC, too. We can just call those Hideoutstomps! Hey, this is easy, and fun!

It should be like the Olympics and take place in a different city every four years. I place my bid for Tokyo 2018!

I'm in!  @ Chris, leave a slot for KKBB if you go ahead with this, I'm sure we can get our French Label to help with promotion. We can probably get the Love Me Nots interested too. We're label mates & are planning some Euro tours together. BTW, you gonna be around in May? Perhaps you can make it down to Cosmic Trip? It would be great to see you. It's been ages. Say hi to Reni & anyone else I know in Bern.

The Hideout is way too international to pick one spot, it would have to be a tour. That sounds even more difficult. Maybe an online concert in real time that could go from location to location around the world with different bands playing at home. Charge memebers a few bucks so they can view it live!
