Thought I'd start this thread as I hardly know anyone on here and it would be a good way to get to know some of the 1000+ members on the Garage Punk Hideout.

Anyway, I'll start.

I'm Bazza 37 years old from the North East of England and play the bass in the garage/psych band Thee Strawberry Mynde. I've been playing the bass now since I was 15 way back in 1985. I've played in a number of bands over the years and this is my second spell in Thee Strawberry Mynde as the band only reformed at the end of last year after originally splitting up in 1998.

As well as playing in bands I also DJ. Not so much in clubs these days but I do a monthly show for the internet station Mod Radio UK - http://www.modradiouk.net

I've been into garage music now since the mid 80s. The first garage band I really liked were The Prisoners and I still love the music that Graham Day is releasing. After The Prisoners I got into bands like The Creeps from Sweden and The Mourning After from Shefield before checking out 60s garage bands and became a big fan of bands such as Love, ? & The Mysterians, The Standells, Count Five, Music Machine, etc.

Another interest of mine is riding scooters. I've had 6 scooters since 1987 5 of them were Vespa's - V100, Sportique, 2 PX125's and a PX200. These days I ride a Bajaj Chetak which looks a lot like a 1960s Vespa but acts more like a Lambretta at it is always beaking down!

I have a MySpace page if anyone wants to add me - http://www.myspace.com/redstar_recordings

I'm Rob in Phoenix, Arizona, US. I started off hardcore and (cough, cough) metal, and worked my way backwards to the 60's punk roots. I've been called a punk rock snob. If a deep rooted dislike of Epitaph Records and FAT Records makes me a snob, then I guess I am. I've been playing guitar and bass for about 30 years and my left hand relaxes in the barre chord shape because I never learned much more. It turns out I'm not the virtuoso I thought I was supposed to be. I've started an internet radio station http://radiofreak-out.com that I play mostly pre '84 punk music on. I thought about playing mostly 60's Garage and Psych but that niche is being pretty well covered. There aren't many 'punk' stations that WON'T play Rancid or Pennywise though. So that's the niche I'm after.

Hey Don- I love that 60sgaragebands.com it's a great archival site.

Always, Always is a beautiful song, as is Give Your Love To Me. I'll have to go back later to read up on you and your mates, but seriously, it's nice to have this site available to all.

Good idea starting this thread Bazza. I'm just learning my way around this site trying to figure out the best way to introduce myself and say "hi."

I've been playing guitar since the early sixties. Was part of 'the scene' back then but sort of dropped out for a time.  My story, if anyone is interested, was put together by Mike Dugo about a year ago (found here http://www.60sgaragebands.com/abstracts.html and here http://www.60sgaragebands.com/tiltonsmarket.html )  In any case I never stopped playing and writing; I just changed my focus and did it for myself, my family and a few friends.

Recent events with my `60s band The Abstracts (including the recent release of an album -- see here http://store03.prostores.com/servlet/uglythings/the-157/ABSTRACTS--... ) has reawakened me I guess -- made me aware that I am hardly alone in my musical tastes! And it is that, probably more than anything, that brought me here!

I'm looking forward to getting to "know" you folks here.  Thanks for listening. :)

Hi! We're a band from Indianapolis started by two friends while drinking and watching the movie "Midnight Madness". Eddie Deezen plays the leader of a nerd scooter gang in the movie. Being fans of Eddie's other work as well (in addition to being a little bit nerdy ourselves), we decided to name the band DEEZEN. We actually have Eddie Deezen's blessings upon our band name and pen pal with Eddie about what the band is doing, ect. We love the garage, rock and roll, and early punk sounds of the 60's, 70's, and early 80's. We play originals and a few covers here and there of songs we like by the Sonics, the Pagans, the Cramps, the Kinks, Link Wray, Saucers, and so on. Glad to be part of a community of like minded people. We have a recording on our profile page if you want to check it out!

Cheers! - Rev. Dr. Doomtone of DEEZEN

Hey guys,

I'm Gio, a 21 year old student in NYC. I was born in Lima, Peru and recently discovered the country's huge garage rock scene (Los Saicos, Los Yorks, etc). I've been into garage for a few years now, with some of my favorite bands being Reigning Sound, The Gories, Jay Reatard and The Remains (feel free to add me on Last.fm!).

I've been playing guitar for a while now and would love to start up a band if anyone in the NY/NJ area is interested. I also recently started a online magazine, which I'm trying to expand and create more content for, so check it out: Mr. Lee Magazine

I'm currently on vacation in Lima, but I look forward to posting more regularly and meeting some of you once I'm back home.

Greetings Earthlings!

Just joined, and I'm enjoying looking around. I'm from Melbourne Australia, and played in bands during the 8s and 9ts, including The Reckers (Psychobilly), Unclean Spirits (garage punk) and the Daredevils (garage punk). Looking forward to kickin' back and enjoying the distortion....1.2.3.4!

i MAY HAVE ALREADY SAID SOMETHING HERE.....Younger men , take comfort in knowing the MEMORY is first thing to go.... I'm a writer , "Musician" and sometimes visual artist , based in Chicago. Before that , I lived in Dallas and Arlington (Or Dullass and Arlingfun as we used to say....), Texas. Lived in parts of Illinois prior to that , too. I write and illustrate for Roctober magazine - www.roctober.com   , and worked with Bad Trip , Black To Comm , Psychotronic Video , and others. I've got a piece in the recent Roctober retrospective "Flying Saucers Rock'n'Roll" , and in the Roctober - released or related "A Friendly Game of Poker", "T.V. a Go - Go" , and a book of interviews with Dan Clowes ("Ghost World" , "Eightball" , etc.) . I'VE BEEN PLAYING MUSIC , OFF AND ON , FOR 30 years. BUT , i'VE REMAINED A SOLO ACT WITH JUST A FEW SIDE PROJECTS (Inc. DAS VOLT , FRONTED BY BRYAN McMAHON OF THE ELECTRIC EELS. ) .   You can see my one You Tube video , my version of "Six Days on The Road", at totallybmx (That's not my page , so , show some respect.)......It'll explain why my report card says "Does'nt Play Well With Others".

Oh ! Music .....Rockabilly , Garage , Psych , Country , Blues , Early Hard Rock , R'n'B , Punk , Instrumental Rock , other stuff.

Hi I'm Ry. Guitarist and Singer from Australia.

I guess I'll just say I play music every day with my best friend in my band The Astros. http://theastros.bandcamp.com

That's our stuff.

I'm also really into all things sci fi, especially table top gaming and things like that.

So hello to everyone =D

I'm a graphic designer from Columbus, OH. I love music. Always have. Don't remember how I got onto garage, but I prefer the 60s stuff as opposed to the 'punk' stuff. Although I do love punk like the SLF, Buzzcocks, Jam etc. Love mod, soul and just about anything good. Favorite newer group would probably be The Mainliners out of Sweden.

Ryan from Rochester, NY. I play the drums, collect 45s, design at robertscomm.com, drink lots of IPAs and rip up the streets daily. Garage punk will always get me in ways no other genre can. I started a blog a few months back called FUZZ DRENCH, check it out if you have the time.

It's been six months or more since I've joined and i only just realized that i haven't actually posted yet...
