Thought I'd start this thread as I hardly know anyone on here and it would be a good way to get to know some of the 1000+ members on the Garage Punk Hideout.

Anyway, I'll start.

I'm Bazza 37 years old from the North East of England and play the bass in the garage/psych band Thee Strawberry Mynde. I've been playing the bass now since I was 15 way back in 1985. I've played in a number of bands over the years and this is my second spell in Thee Strawberry Mynde as the band only reformed at the end of last year after originally splitting up in 1998.

As well as playing in bands I also DJ. Not so much in clubs these days but I do a monthly show for the internet station Mod Radio UK - http://www.modradiouk.net

I've been into garage music now since the mid 80s. The first garage band I really liked were The Prisoners and I still love the music that Graham Day is releasing. After The Prisoners I got into bands like The Creeps from Sweden and The Mourning After from Shefield before checking out 60s garage bands and became a big fan of bands such as Love, ? & The Mysterians, The Standells, Count Five, Music Machine, etc.

Another interest of mine is riding scooters. I've had 6 scooters since 1987 5 of them were Vespa's - V100, Sportique, 2 PX125's and a PX200. These days I ride a Bajaj Chetak which looks a lot like a 1960s Vespa but acts more like a Lambretta at it is always beaking down!

I have a MySpace page if anyone wants to add me - http://www.myspace.com/redstar_recordings

Hi. I am a photographer and musician and forever student at the University of Arizona. I play records for people when asked and occasionally have the time to have a band (not now). For a living I rub asses (do massage) in LA and Tucson (I fly out to LA on weekends). You can check out my crappy photography at http://www.myspace.com/feraljared

The garage podcast is a lifesaver.

Hiya guys.

We are a punk/psychobilly band from Ireland called Quiffs N Coffins.

Love the site, hope to be a contributing member of the community :)

All the best.

Hi,

I'm a teen from holland who only discovered garage a few months ago. My first garage band was the sonics and they're still my favorite. I've been playing the piano for a few months now and plan to take up the guitar for the summer.
I may as well pitch in - I've been a garage/punk/surf/psych fan for about 15 years now, live in the North of England and love THe Creation, Love, The Seeds, The Monks, Count Five, Nuggets, Billy CHildish, blah blah blah. I also love surf punk, and am amassing a large exotica collection also!

I'm into film also - Mondo movies, 60s psych/B movies, French new wave, Comic books, and I make a lot of my own clothes these days (since vintage prices have shot up lately!).

I went to Paris last week and spent too much money in Born Bad records, and looking forward to going to the Blast Off festival in Nottingham with my husband later this year!

Hey.

Well I'm not exactly that new here but I hardly ever get one so basically, I am a newbie as well :D

Anyway, I'm Djae, I'm a 17yr old kid who plays lead guitar and vocals in a punk/grunge band. Our music is like a mixture of grunge and punk as well as some elements of gothic rock. We call it sponge rock; it's basically like grunge, only spongier :)

You can listen to our stuff here; http://www.reverbnation.com/crystalaxis

or on our not so active MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/crystalaxis

I'd love to know what you guys think. Though we only have demos and a bunch of our random acoustics up at the mo but nonetheless, let me know.

Cheers guys!

I'm Pat From Paris France, turning 30 in may !

I've been into the underrgound rock'n'roll scene for 15years now, started with punkrock/hardcore to garage/surf/rockabilly. I've been into some bands since and played a lot of shows

I'm currently playing rhythm guitar and singing in The Cavaliers (surf/wild rock'n'roll),

playing bass in The Four Slicks (garagepunk with Jon Von from the Rip-offs some people here might know him i guess),

also playing lead guitar in Jetsex (punk/hxc ala Dwarves), but we re not very active those past 2 years ( we just have on show with the dwarves) , but we toured USA and Japan in 2006 , maybe some garagepunkers were there, we played some shows with Teenage Harlets.

I'm sometimes playing records in some bars in Paris, i know very well the guys from Born Bad records shop and co...

looking forward to meet people from the hideout in real life ! ( like during my trip in NYC in june ) hahah

My name is Chance and I started listening to underground garage punk music as a kid growing up in the 1970's. One of my top 5 records is still Funhouse by the Stooges.

I used to create my own records by tracing the outline of one onto butcher paper, creating the cover art, linear notes, track listings, lyrics, and personel. By the time I was 10 I had created 5 or 6 complete records, which was great practice for later when I actually formed my first "real" band, in the early 1990's.

I'm a songwriter by nature. I play a little guitar, sing and write all of the lyrics for Watching Alice (1990-1992), Thee Legendary Curtains (1995-1996) and The Church of Entertainment Hedonism (2011+) I stopped playing music altogether for 15 years, settled down, got married to the love of my life and had two amazing kids. I did the corporate button-down life for the better part of a decade and have been laid off and run out of some of the biggest companies in the world.

I had a nervous breakdown last summer and my shrink told me to start writing songs again. My wife agreed and late last December I reached out to my songwriting partner and lead guitarist in crime from the Watching Alice, and TCoEH was born. We have since wrote 9 or 10 songs and they are all over the map, but our driving inspiration has always been garage, punk, 70's glam and trashy 1970's AM radio sounds with huge sing-a-long choruses.

I try to add a bit to the discussion here when it touches on something I understand, like writing lyrics. My favorite podcasts are the Bull Pit, Murder City and 40 Ounces.I plan on listening to some new ones this weekend so any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

All the best,

Chance
Hey! I was in Born Bad about 2 weeks ago and bought a huge pile of vinyl! (I'm from UK, went to Paris for a trip) - we were invited by the girl in Exotica to a Mod/60s dance party but it was a bit too late for us... can you recommend any good bars/music venues to go on my next trip to Paris? Cheers!

Hey everyone.  Jesus Tarazon, 28 years old.  Live in San Diego, California, but was raised in the desert, Imperial Valley to be exact, located about 10 miles north of the Mexican border.   Been into punk rock since I was 12. Learned to play bass, guitar and drums since then and played in a few punk/hardcore bands during my teenage years in a little scene we had in the Imperial Valley/Mexicali area.  Still into punk rock but my taste has gone into garage, blues, rock-n-roll, reggae, soul, new wave, etc.  Have done a little traveling (Spain last summer and Argentina before that) and I will do more this summer in Europe.  I will hit up London, Spain, Rome, Berlin, and hopefully a few more.  Looking forward to meeting some of you, maybe even in some of those places.
Not sure if you remember me, but I used to co-host the podcast "Whiskey 'N' Waterbeds"...we played a couple of your tunes on there...I'm now hosting "40 Oz. Nonsense" on here...Glad to see you're back! Always liked your tunes!
You may be confusing me with somjeone else, as I am a newbie to this.  It may have been one of my friends or someone I know that you're thinking of.  As much as I'd like to, I haven't done much music these days (mostly due to not being able to get a band together and attending to other responsibilities).  Just curious, whose music did you play on your podcast?
I'm hiding beside this website identity, but I'm an aging 80s punk originally from Cambridge, UK. I don't look like a punk anymore, and I also listen to ALL other styles of music: in fact for about ten years I completely gave up on all forms of rock music and only listened to jazz, funk, electronica and reggae, but I've been back on the straight and narrow for a while now. I'm planning to remain 40 on my next birthday. Oh, and please have a look at my website: if you don't see any listings for your area then pleeeeease add some! http://www.liveunsigned.com/

THE MARSHMALLOW OVERCOAT replied to THE MARSHMALLOW OVERCOAT's discussion what is a good price for a #'d 100-copy 45? in the group Trading Post
"Thanks for your thoughts. I don't want to piss off fans by issuing later a 45 they thought was very limited. I really like the 100-copy idea, though. It can BARELY pay for itself, but would be so cool... "
