Hey y'all. I recently started getting into the Black Lips a lot and was wondering if any of you fine folks knew of more bands with a similar happy-go-lucky, hand-clapping vibe? I especially dig bands that dip between multiple genres, or are sorta uncategorizable.

ie, more stuff like this:

Stop me if you've heard these:

Almighty Defenders: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAg4kN5pi3U

King Khan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxDlcIjfpvY

Mujeres: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT5ZMIrCBQU&feature=related

That's off the top of my head... I do a Garage, Surf, and Lofi show but Black Lips are pretty unique not sure if there's much that's real similar to them.

I've listened to Almighty Defenders and King Khan, they're both great.

I hadn't heard Mujeres before though, that's exactly like what I was looking for. Thanks a bunch!! :D

Hi kaki,

what about these guys:

wheels on fire

goodnight loving

cheers

Try to listening Death By Unga Bunga... maybe you like them. This is young rock combo from Norway that plays a mixture of punk, garage, soul, power pop and surf!

I'd say that the Strange Boys are one of the top bands with the same kinda vibe as Black Lips.  Plus, maybe it was a bad night for Black Lips when I saw them live (in Bristol, England) around 4 or 5 years ago, whereas Strange Boys totally rocked.

DMZ/ Lyers, Clone Defects, A-Bones, Billy Childish, Fe Fi Fo Fums, Fells, Flamin' Groovies...

Look at BOMP!'s (the label who signed the Black Lips) back catalog.

try "Acid baby Jesus" or maby go back a few years to "Jacques Dutronc".

Hi kaki,

Check out our shows, we play a lot of that kind of stuff, both here in our Church of Thee PVC shows http://garagepunk.ning.com/profiles/blog/list?user=3pibt13f4nx6d and in our weekly Polyvinyl Craftsmen shows http://polyvinylcraftsmen.blogspot.co.uk/

Cheers, Coop

Jacuzzi Boys, Thee Oh Sees, Davila 666...

Not all flower punk, but all worth checking out: Bare Wires, Mikal Cronin, Jack of Heart and Regal (from France), Dead Ghosts, Harlem, Indian Wars, Sic Alps, Fresh and Onlys, The Hussy, White Fence, The UV Race (from Australia, Wobbly Lamps, Wounded Lion, Submarine Races, Eddy Current Suppression Ring (from Australia), Tyvek, Nobunny, Hunx and his Punx, Shannon and the Clams, Unnatural Helpers, Useless Eaters, King Lollipop, The Pharmacy, The Mantles, The Beets, OBN IIIs......

Awful band name, but I've been listening to this non-stop lately, and they definitely sound like the Black Lips... Thee Marvin Gays:

These bands have the same 'vibe' (imo) and are really worth checking out (some are already named):

Nobunny
Ty Segall
Mikal Cronin
Thee Oh Sees
Hunx and his Punx
Rock and Roll Adventure Kids
Box Elders
Jeffrey Novak
Personal and the Pizzas
