The Ramones. They did more than three records, ya know...

How many of you are of the opinion that  THE RAMONES did NOT jump the shark after their 4th , or even third , album? The way I see it , they never did a BAD album , even if some material was'nt up to par. In the 80's and 90's , their worst still beat the competition at their best . Their shows and their records always had a magic about them, even when they were no longer breaking new ground.   What are some of your favorite later Ramones albums , and why? Any favorite songs that most people are barely cognizant of.     BTW , Joey's second posthumous solo album is much better than anyone had a right to expect. Give it a go.

I saw them on the ''To Tough to Die'' tour, pretty badass.DeeDee had a short spiked hairdoo and they kicked mucho ass.''Wart Hog'' always killed me and the lyric where not on the lyric sheet cuz the record company thoght them to offensive.''Mama's Boy''is fun too...

Rocco , Yeah , I first saw them on the "Too Tough To Die" tour , but , not because I had'nt tried to see them , earlier. It was a good time to see them , they seemed to have a new lease on life. I always figured the lyrics to "Wart Hog" were'nt transcribed as a joke , since they're almost utterly unintelligible. "Mama's Boy" is still the bomb....or whatever kids say , today.

According to Dee Dee's book, which I'm sure to some extent is based in reality, he wrote Warthog for his therapist who gave him the assignment of writing a love song. I always liked that song even better after reading that.

Word.

Have you seen Dee Dee's hand-written lyrics to "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? They are written like a fourth-grader would do it, with his name and the date in large, childlike printing flush left at the top left corner, and the rest underneath it. You get the feeling he never quite moved past the horizontally-blue-lined pieces of paper with the dashed line in the middle for lowercase letters on which kids do assignments in elementary school.

That's pretty funny.

No , I have'nt seen that , but Dee Dee signed a flyer for me . If I thought I was going to meet him , I would have brought a record. But , he was glad to sign it , illegible scribble and a big cracked coconut smile on his face .

GREAT interview with CJ here. His album comes out this year and he describes it as a cross between Rocket To Russia and End of the Century.  Can't wait.

I can't wait to see how exactly C.J. Ramone crosses ANYTHING with "End Of The Century."

Maybe a little OT, but this seemed like a good place to share this poster, since I don't pull it out very often.

The show was in 2001 about a month after Joey died, at a tiny club in Springfield, OR. It was the 8th Birthday Party for University of Oregon campus radio station 88.1 KWVA. My buddy Goro from The Snukas hand screened these, and only made about 30. He gave me one to put in my shop window, but it went straight into my music collection. Not sure if any more are still around.

Dee Dee seemed to be in good sprits that night, mixing at the bar during the warm-up bands. He and Goro hit it off, and he brought Goro up onstage to sing Blitzkrieg Bop. It was a fun night. I saw a couple of camcorders running, but haven't seen any footage on the web - let me know if you know of any. I DAT taped it, but haven't been able to find it since I moved 4 years ago... I fear it's gone for good.

Hey, i remember the Wristrockets! Great poster.

Two albums after the difficult 80's

1993: Acid Eaters for the great 60's songs' covers

1995: Adios Amigos, they came back to the roots with this album - it also includes one of the most beautiful (yes!) Ramones songs (She talks to rainbows)
