The GaragePunk Hideout

GaragePunk.com's Social Network

I am always on the hunt for killer rock n' roll bands that I have yet to discover. Most weekends i search record bins or online for some tasty new or used vinyl to spin. So, what records are on heavy rotation on your sound system? Here are my top 3 records for this week.

1) The Points/ Maaster Gaiden split 7" (Big Action Records)

2) The King Khan and BBQ Show "Teabag Party 7" (Crypt)
3) Carbonas/ DieRotzz split 7"(Die Slaughterhaus Records)

Not sure about that...sometimes Frankies comments are completely off the wall. When i saw the Pointed Sticks it was a 2 or 3 nite gig at the Cedar Lounge in downtown London...approx 1980 (which is certainly the right time frame for that Teenage Head show) The Teenage Head show was at the University here in London and it was students only (or you had to go as a guest of a student, so i couldn't go)...instead i stayed home and taped the show off the radio...lol...

Didn't like that one first listen, but man, it sure grows on ya really fast...brutally honest, warts and all. Fave tune on that one for me is Beef Stampede, a real sarcastic jibe at all of the pretty boy bands...

Hey Thomas Function is right around here where I live.

Yeah Nick and I were talking about how good it would be to hear 63 Monroe do Beef Stampede, and only slightly ironic. Keith would laugh out loud. And yes Drink To Me is hard for Keiths friends at first but, yes, it grows on you really fast.

That Non-Alignment Pact song from The Modern Dance always kills me...you gotta hear Data Panik In the Year Zero EP 1978 to really appreciate Pere Ubu. The song 30 Seconds Over Tokyo is just killer! Here's a link to Pere Ubu's early recs...

And if you're gonna go that far back, you gotta hear Rocket From The Tombs, the band that spawned Pere Ubu and The Dead Boys....guitarist Cheetah Chrome toured up this way last year and played tunes from Rocket....i haven't been the same since....lol...

That would be hilarious....if you see Nick, say hi to him for me.
