My band The Psyatics will be going into the studio this winter, and plan on pressing LPs as well as CDs.  Can I get some guidance on good experiences with pressing plants that will do short runs (200-300)?   Best, Rob

Whereabouts are you? We used Breed media (U.K.), but I think that they subcontracted the actual pressing to GZ (in Czech Republic).

We're based in Las Vegas, NV.  US

I press with MPO in France but I use vinylium in Belgium for the order.

Check this dudes out: http://www.piratespress.com/cms/

Goes with gz which I tend to avoid. Some of my friends sent in two 45's from two different bands and got to splits. Never got their money back...

I used to press with United out of Nashville. I haven't done a record in several years, so I don't know what's going on with the pressing plants these days. When I did use them, they were great. It's probably worth your time to check them out.  I believe one of my good friends uses Rainbow records now. I haven't heard of any problems as of yet. Rainbow is probably the closest to you, they are in Cali. I've heard multiple horror stories concerning Alpha vinyl in Florida. Seems you'd be best to steer clear of that one.

If you guys have the budget, I would do 500 press instead of 300. With the cost of pressing, sleeves and so on, it's hardly worth the time to do anything smaller.

Thanks for the words...I'll check out Pirates Press and Rainbow!

We just pressed our first LP on DMS in the UK, and I can totally recommend them.. they did a great job and they're chep, fast and very thorough.

DMS Vinyl

thanks for the options.  I'll be checking them out.  best-

My band glitter dick is gonna go with furnacemfg for a 500 run. They also do an econo package 300 run that has slips instead of jackets. We haven't used em yet but their client history leads me to believe they put out a good product. Sales lady was nice too... Gonna give us free inner groove etching that says " play like berry. Act like iggy. Look like Bowie". 12" for $1570
