The GaragePunk Hideout

GaragePunk.com's Social Network

If enough people are interested, (and if there's a slot available...) i'd like to do an instrumental podcast on a regular basis. I know we have the occasional Surfcast already, but i'd like to do a regular show featuring nothing but instro, and most Rock n Roll styles from the 50s up until now - so i'd be featuring some surf but more....

To give you an idea i would be featuring people like Link Wray, Lonnie Mack, Duane Eddy, The Ventures, The Shadows, the Spotnicks, bands from comps like Planetary Pebbles (Surfbeat Behind the Iron Curtain), the 60s / surf era right up to bands like Los Straitjackets, Laika and the Cosmonauts and current.

If you are interested in hearing such a podcast, reply to this post and if i get enough interest I will put together a "pilot" podcast and submit it to the powers that be..

Regards

Two and a half weeks, one reply (thanks Smashman), I'll take that as "no interest" then. Meanwhile I've uploaded 11 songs to my profile, so you can hear what it might have sounded like.

I'd like to hear it. I'm always searching out cool instros for my wife to add to her background muzak at her cafe. There's all kinds of forgotten instro gems by non instro bands, like the Masonics had a cool one on their SFTRI Lp that I liked and so on. Always liked Richie Valens's "Fast Freight". Looking forward to what you can throw at us.

Just realised how old the thread is. Have you already posted a show yet?

Thanks Mike

I haven't posted a show yet, I was working on a pilot for an all Australian podcast for Garagepunk.com but i've opted out of continuing any further with that. I still have a live365 show which features a fair bit of instro stuff: http://www.live365.com/stations/fuzzmeister if you are interested.

I may still do an all instro podcast but most likely not on Garagepunk.com, I promise to update you all when it happens.
By the way, I love "Fast Freight" too, great instro!

I think you should do this anyway. Screw the lack of interest. Besides, we have lots of instrumentals that need to be played. We've got two of 'em up on our page. Check 'em out if you get a chance.

way back in 1966 "96 Tears" was played to death on WMEX in Boston. It was ingrained on my 10-year-old brain. In high school in the early to mid 70s, I got made fun of by the teen cognosenti because the music I dug "wasn't complicated enough" I was v…
