There's a very good documentary about this , culminating in a reunion with all of Jay's then - known children. The only non - participants are his children from his first marriage , who refuse to believe Hawkins would have cheated on their Mother , or fathered other kids out of wedlock. It's very sad , because the others seem primed to celebrate that they all have Screamin' Jay Hawkins in common.   I'm not saying what's wrong or right , only my initial impression.

.....I did have a couple of younger guys ask me , after an Iggy show in '88 , IF I WERE RON Asheton's son !  Anybody else have a funny story like that ? 

Jeff Liles , who booked Screamin' Jay in Dallas in '86 and '87 , stated , recently , that when Jay played at The Dallas Hard Rock Cafe (May all the world forget she ever stood) , the 2nd of those two shows , cops showed up , backstage to arrest Hawkins for non - payment of child support for the Mother of one of his kids , then residing in Dallas.Liles said that he persuaded the Officers to wait until after the show to arrest him , because there would have been a lot more trouble if there was no show. He was right about that. We were all primed....And I did wonder what was taking so long !
