This past year my appreciation for early R&B and Soul skyrocketed... I couldn't stop playing it, searching for it, and dancing to it. I got a bunch of comps now... Shakin Fit, Whip It On Em, Show Me What You Got you know the Candy Record label releases, also All Night Soul Stomp, Pow City, Downtown Soulville.... any other must have Comps, tracks, albums?!?!

Download anything by Otis Redding and/or the Smokey Robinson.

Check out Norton Records they have some great reissues on 7" and LP. So do Ace, more on CD with them.

aS COMPS GO ,THERE'S lOOKEY - dOOKEY , Talkin' Trash , Black Rock'n'Roll (Renamed "Stompin'") , Shaftman (70'S pARTY RECORD interspersed with bad ass Funk AND sOUL FROM THE EARLY 70'S. aBOUT AS nORTHERN AS sOUTH aMERICA.) Excuse the caps....

Also "Gaz's Rockin' Blues" on ACE is a great comp. Gaz does Rockin' R'n'B nights in London. I only recently learned that he's John Mayall's son.

I also have Lookey Dookey but none of the others you mentioned. Definitely have to look em up. Thanks.

Try the Eccentric Soul series!  Pretty fantastic shit!

Just type "Northern soul" (& maybe stick in; RnB/R&B) in youtube...

youtubing and Northern Soul is too easy. I wanted to see what people here were into and what you guys would recommended. I'm not necessarily new the the genre just trying to dig deeper into soul and R&B

I love Northern RnB & early Northern Soul, but don't own much. Some of my faves are:

'Where's My Money'- Willie Jones

'Baby Don't You Weep'- Fred Bridges

'Look At What I Almost Missed'- Pat Lewis

'Angelina Angelina'- Stewart Ames

'Arabia'- Royal Playboys

'If It's All The Same To You Babe'- Luther Ingram

according to northern soul, there is a wonderful comp on "psychic circle" called "hide and seek".

Buttshakers soul party. I got volume 1. There are several volumes. Its on Mr. Luckee records from Brooklyn,NY.  Highly reccomended!

In the early R'n'B/ black R'n'R vein, you should probably try the SAVAGE KICK serie, full of great screamers and wailing saxes !!!

I SMELL A RAT and ROLL YOUR MONEYMAKER on Stag-O-Lee records.

BLOWIN' THROUGH YOKOHAMA on Atomic Passion.

WHIP WOBBLE & GRIND on Club Harlem.

T-BIRD PARTY on Lido.

The JERK ! BOOM ! BAM ! serie on Jerk Boom Bam records.

And of course, as you've already mentioned, every Candy records comp is worth a try.

And many many more I can't think of right now.
