This is like Please Kill Me in that it's an oral history, but this one focuses on the history of the porn industry.

That would be Anthony Bourdain's The Bobby Gold Stories, which follows the life of Gold over the years as he's busted for drugs, sent to prison, out working as muscle, and falling in love with a chef. As well crafted as his other books, and naturally it has a bit of kitchen stuff in it.
The other is J.G Ballard's Running Wild, which is a sort of mystery. In a small (13 families) gated community someone has killed all of the adults and spirited away all of the children. Also very good.
