"KISS and Sell: The Making of a Supergroup" by C.K. Lendt.

"Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin Uncensored" by Richard Cole.

"Bang Your Head: The Rise and Fall of Heavy Metal" by David Konow.

"On the Road with the Ramones" by Monte Melnick.

"Diary of a Rock'n'Roll Star" by Ian Hunter.

a misfits manifesto, by Donna Gaines? It's a book by this sociologist/rock and roll fan, showing how rock and roll has influenced her life. Engrossing...

Hey, I'd like to mention Cool Cats, a book of R&R photos and some essays. It goes from the 50s up to the early 80s.

Also, some subculture books: Subculture, the Meaning of Style, by Dick Hebdige

Skinhead, by Nik Knight [this guy does fashion photography now]

Reggae International, by Stephen Davis and Peter Simon

Mods, by Richard Barnes [he also did the who, maximum r&b]

and a fiction book, Absolute Beginners, by colin macinnes [early mod]

ive just read (twice) and loved 'a riot of our own' by john green its the account of the former clash rodie who left there entorage in america 82 or so due to exaustion great read

I see most of my favorites are mentioned here. I also enjoyed England's Dreaming by Jon Savage (on The Sex Pistols and punk), Passion is a Fashion The Real Story of The Clash by Pat Gilbert, The Dirt by Mötley Crue/Neil Strauss (of course) and I really loved Hellfire by Nick Tosches.

Anybody read Keith Richard's Life or the John Einarson's Arthur Lee bio?

How was Rotten? I just got it in from a local bookshop, but not sure if it is furniture or really something to dedicate time to.
