Hi everyone,

The Above are trying to book some shows in Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison on 7/1 and 7/2 and are looking for bands that would be interested in playing with us. We're a R&B/Garage 4 piece from Brooklyn who were asked to play at a wedding (weird, I know) in Madison, WI on 7/3 and we're trying to make the most of our trip.

You can check out our stuff here, or just listen to our track "Bollywood Woman" on Vol. 1 of "The Best of The GaragePunk Hideout" comp.

If anyone is interested in playing or has any suggestions as to where the best places to play in these cities are, just leave us a message.

Thanks,

Frank

Hey Frank,

Appropriately enough, Frank's Power Plant in Milwaukee would be a good spot: http://frankspowerplant.angelfire.com/booking.html

The Cactus Club (http://www.cactusclubmilwaukee.com/) and Club Garibaldi's (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Club-Garibaldis/344845918293) would also be good.

By the way, really like "Bollywood Woman" and played it on my show  (Zero Hour on WMSE) recently. Actually got it from the Power-Pop-A-Licious comp courtesy of Pavement PR.

Hope you make it to Milwaukee!

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Frank - I think I already told you about places to check in Madison, if you need more info feel free to email me @ leopardradio@yahoo.com. The Frequency (madisonfrequency.com) is really your best bet but I would get in there NOW as July weekends book up super-fast. (You're playing a wedding in Madison? wha? it's gotta be someone I know....)

The number-one band you will probably want on the bill with you is The Midwest Beat. We don't have a ton of garage/6Ts bands here, but I can probably find you some other ones.

As always I will beg you to PLEASE not bypass Madison for an actual gig, if you can help it at all. I know promoters here can be a bit tough sometimes but please don't give up. We always get sidelined for the bigger cities, and it is a fantastic town in the summer - we have quite enough "townies" to show up at gigs even without the student population. I'm not the only one at WORT who plays you, so we can certainly give you some hype if you need.

Cheers,

for Chicago, off the top of my head

The Mutiny
Pancho's
Gallery Cabaret

those are dingy bar/clubs that would be pretty suited for book a band such as yourselves

hit me up direct if ya want

Cheers!

Hey Jenni,

Yes, I've reached out to the contacts that you gave me (thanks, by the way!) but strangely enough, I haven't heard anything back! Maybe I asked too far in advance?

Anyway, I definitely want to play Madison especially as you've been so kind as to play our stuff on your show. I'm not sure that you know the folks who's wedding we're playing. They live in the classical music world and David knows them from school here in NY.

Are you going to the Power Pop fest next week? If so, I'll see you then!

Frank
