Ali Want replied to Sean's discussion Need help with a Go Betweens song... in the group Destroy All Music
"You're not going to like this. It's a television commercial they recorded for a record shop - The Toowong Music Centre, Nelson. It's on page 67 of the David Nichols Go-Betweens book. It was a song they appear to have made up on the…"

Ali Want replied to Sean's discussion Need help with a Go Betweens song... in the group Destroy All Music
"Ooh, interesting. It's nothing I recognise. I've had a quick scoot through the 78-79 lost album and the extras on the Send Me A Lullaby set and it's not on there. I'm wondering if it's Robert Forster (it is him, isn't…"

Ali Want replied to KK Dirty Money & Las Drogas's discussion Gibson Bros. vs. Norton Records... What is the story behind that?
"There's a thread on the Terminal Boredom board which explains a little more: http://terminal-boredom.com/forums/index.php?topic=24544.0 and I seem to recall (although based on somewhat hazily-remembered conversations with Howland and…"

"I know Edwin "The Savage Pencil" Pouncey was working on a book about Detroit Music a long while back but it doesn't seem to have appeared anywhere yet. Not directly helpful to your query, but it may eventually appear."

Ali Want replied to GarageBill's discussion Name your blogs! in the group Bloggers
"I have an MP3 blog, All I Want. It was originally meant to be for 7" singles only, but the temptation to add some LPs, 10" EPs and the very occasional 12" single, was too strong. I also mean to add some more scanned fanzines when I…"

Profile Information

Location:
Manchester, England
Relationship Status:
Married
Bio:
I work for a shady, arms-length government organisation so top secret and so hated I have to hide my identity in order to protect the safety of my children, Chalfont and Tarquin. I'm 48. I like drinking.
Website:
http://alliwantsevens.blogspot.com
Favorite Music/Influences (list some bands, musicians, genres, etc.):
I enjoy poorly-recorded music recorded by ordinary Joe Schmoes with great record collections. I like it fast, I like it short, but most of all I like it on vinyl. The Fingers, Buzzcocks (Devoto-era in particular), The Phantom Surfers, The Reigning Sound, The Arch Villains. _That_ kind of thing.
Favorite Movies:
Willy Wonka. Waiting For Guffman. Watership Down. White Dog. And that's just the W's.
Other Hobbies/Interests:
Child-wrangling. Not buying shoes.
Favorite Show(s) on GaragePunk Pirate Radio:
I haven't listened to any yet but as I just got an internet radio for the kitchen the time may be right.
