When my friend Marnix told me about 60s punk, I said "what the hell are you talking about?". He replied with Ralf Nielsen and the Chancellors "scream". I never went back!

Some information on the songs on my player:

The Rabbits are the only group of that time that didn't come from Athens and made a deal with a record label. As far as I know, they only made one 7inch, with this song and with "Looking in the universe". No clue which one was the A side, I would assume "Looking in the universe"... They come from the island of Rhodes, and to me it sounds like the singer was the only person in the band that owned an english dictionary ;) (The back up vocals sound like they're read from greek letters) I absolutely love the Rabbits, they're my favourite greek band from the 60s!

Kostas Mpezos is a rembetiko artist recognizable from his mesmerizing bouzouki sound. He was born in Korinth, lived in Athens, where he performed and recorded during the 30s, and died during the occupation in the early 40s. He occasionally played yodeling hawaiian music (!), and he looks just likeJean-Jacques Terreur ;)

Manolis Chiotis, well, he's my superhero, the geniusest (?) bouzouki of all times! Any search with his name will give you plenty of info in english. I have this idea that a lot of Chiotis songs can be made into spectacular surf tunes, and the Happy Happy Jihads kindly confirmed that by producting an amazing cover of "Pou tha pas". Rumors have it that the Metaluna 4 will perform this cover as well. This song here "Mi mou chalas ta kefia" is, in my humble opinion, one of the best Chiotis songs, with singers Kazantzidis and Marinella. Kazantzidis is a superhero of my hometown, Thessaloniki - when he died there were people with huge stereos in pick up trucks, roaming about in the city, playing his music loud and crying...

On a more surf side, the Dragons are the only greek surf band from the 60s that I know of, and I don't know many of their songs...

And finally, the Adam's boys with "get away", give us a taste of the greek paranoia hehehe

Enjoy!
