Great entertainment start to finish, not one single dud, so it's going to be a difficult show to follow, Gents. (I'd forgotten just how good Dr John could be, this was a timely reminder to start digging in the vinyl vaults again)

You know how it is? Suddenly a favorite frog that you have seen develop from spawn and avoided stepping on for months (if not years) suddenly, from nowhere, hops out in front of you. I'm certain it has happened to you all at some time in your life.…

Profile Information

Where do you live?
West Coast Britannia (& slowly moving North)
About Me:
Generally - hopeless, aspiring to acceptable mediocrity, inexplicably prone to all-too-rare flashes of accurate memory.

Musically - I love all pre-rock (ie pre '66) beat music and early r'n'b / doo-wop. It's an addiction that GP helps me indulge, regularly.

Geographically: I used to live in one of the Medway towns, and would sometimes see Billy Childish in the street.

Personal Summary: 3/10 = 'Basket Case'.
Website:
http://www.stereochord.org
Favorite Music:
Most weekends I plunder my vinyl vault to unearth an assortment of over ripe musical cheeses including Spike Jones & Shoobonix & Harry Partch & Sun Ra & Roland Kirk & Link Wray & Lost Legends of Surf & Soul & Cecil Taylor & Jordi Savall & Monk & Ornette & King Tubby & The Residents & Beefheart & a lot more Soul & a plethora of Musics from around the world & a few things not of this world but still with Cheese On (....not including the GP Podcasts). Weekdays, who knows?
Favorite Movies:
BIG SCREEN: Noir, Ealing, Horror, Hal Roach Studios, Art House & 50s sci-fi (ie: The Card, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Third Man, White Heat, Way Out West, It came from Outer Space, The Lady Killers, Kind Hearts & Coronets....). From '39 the Wizard of Oz, and all damned good musicals, wartime Sherlock Holmes with Basil and Nigel, melodrama queens (Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Jean Tierney etc.), post 60s art house and independent (Palookaville, Pi), anything with a brain and most things without - and a whole host more.

PS: check out http://www.indiemoviesonline.com/watch-movies for some half decent stuff as well.

small screen: apart being addicted to afternoon black and white film repeats on the box it's mainly cartoons - Top Cat, Hong Kong Phooey, Roobarb & anything with sniggering canines.

Hated Movies - most of them.
Favorite GaragePunk.com Podcast(s):
So many excellent shows, each one listened to intently!

As a great fan of pre-Rock music, Hot Slop, R+R Suicide, FSR+R, Desperate Hour, Rad-Ob, Savage Kick, Haunted Shack, WPC, GP Surfcast & Sonic Nightmares, are always treasured and saved. Starting to warm to new shows such as Shout Bamalama & House of Wild Delights also - great fun, and it's currently Lost in Paradise with the cool melodies and swinging songwriting that is hitting the spot!!

Even the ones I don't usually go for are always interesting for a listen through at least once, so a resounding thumbs up all round. This is a wonderful service in the face of wall-to-wall blandness that now surrounds me on digital radio. Hip, hip...

Gardening with Frogs (part 2)

I have just returned from inspecting my frost encrusted back garden and (unfortunately) have to report another dead frog. I can just about make out prints, but from foot, hoof, claw or paw I have no way on knowing as the morning sun has melted a goodly proportion of the edges. This is now becoming very tiresome indeed, and as soon as I finish my mug of steaming black coffee and a meringue base cream cake (which I had been saving for later) I will take in a wider sweep of the area to see if there… Continue

"Hello, Danny, my name is Slobber-Head..."

And from the very moment my ex-girlfriend's canine uttered these words I got the distinct impression I was in trouble. I hadn't seen her (the ex) for several years, so much so I failed to recognize the crumpled figure camped on my doorstep yesterday evening. OK it was a different colored glass eye in her left socket, but I still should have known her after those far from wonderful 13.67 days we spent together back in 1998. So, off to a bad start then, and consequently immediately on the back foo… Continue

Gardening with Frogs (part 1)

You know how it is? Suddenly a favorite frog that you have seen develop from spawn and avoided stepping on for months (if not years) suddenly, from nowhere, hops out in front of you. I'm certain it has happened to you all at some time in your life. Picture the scene, it looks up accusingly as your foot clumsily attempts to rectify its predestined trajectory, then for a brief nanosecond your minds meld together and it can see through your eyes, and you through its...

Until its 'mither', who you… Continue

Show #258: "The Eggman Collection #75" Every 3 weeks I do a series of shows called The Eggman Collection, which originally was an old tape/cd collection of songs that I like. Now since I have little time due to work and stuff, I made it into a radi…
