- Mostly older stuff, but I also like film soundtrack stuff, acoustic blues, old country, banging on pots & pans, jangle-y 12 strings, howling, screetching and growling stuff too. Old R&B, Rock & Roll and anything with a Hammond Organ in it. The list goes on.
- Favorite Movies:
- David Lynch's "Eraserhead" and Richard Elfman's "The Forbidden Zone" along with too many AIP films to list here. Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilliogy" tops my list along with many Stanley Kubrick films and all the (original) Planet of the Apes series too. Bad films are Great! I also do soundtrack work as well.

To all you Hideout Folks, I have been busy touring, recording and doing things elsewhere. You can keep up with me on FaceBook (or MySpace, but they SUCK!!) I wish I had more time right now, but y'know how that is. I should have a a new CD out in Spring 2011 (I am just finishing that up) and I am hoping to hit the Road again soon too. BUT until then I need to take soem time off and rest up so I can give y'all the Rock & Roll every one of us craves.

Starting Recording on New Howlin' Houndog CD for 2011/12 (Featuring my Horn Section!)

OK after some downtime after my Spring 2010 Bay Area Tour, to rehearse and regroup the troops, I am finally going to start recording my next CD (out in 2011/12) featuring my incredible Horn Section. I will post some finished tracks here for you to listen to once they are completed (which won't be for a while yet) I will have a busy Summer Season and hopefully a Fall Tour to get back out on the Road again. Stay tuned!

OK so I am packin' up in late March and headin' South to the Bay Area for a 4 date Tour (plus a couple of other dates on the way home in OR) I will be using several Bay Area musicians for this tour (Simon Grant-Drums, Jane Tyska-Bass and Kate Pittard-Sax) I will be playing with San Francisco's Old Cheeky Bastards and Hayward CA's Scranton (plus a few other folks) on these dates;

Well, I had an alright 2009, but some folks din't. I won't miss it. I am looking forward to 2010 though. Lots of cool stuff comin' up. I have a new CD out and I will be Touring the Bay Area in late March. Hopefully some of you folks will come out to see me then. I might be heading back to Texas in the Fall and I will be out and about here in the Pacific Northwest playing as much as I can.

I'm going for a basically a stax/old motown/ new orleans/ james brown sound, I record my drums using 2 beringer pencil mics as overhead, kick miced with some cheap peavey mic. I also own 2 akg mics, one small, and one large condenser mic. I always record my drums and any other live off the floor tracks into a 1978 akai tape casette recorder, hen i convert that into digital, and do everything else digital using a ART tube preamp for my close micing, and a beringer omni mic run direct into my mBox. Im having problems getting the kick to come out, and maby with the attack on the snare. I want more of these, but I always have found that less is more in my recordings. Im looking for a sound thats between hi fi and lo fi, any suggestions?
