Agreed. Although the music played is timeless – so not exclusively for newbies. Also, I swear I’ve heard “John Rock & Roll Sinclair” played on the station before. If not, it certainly should have been…
Yeah, I’ve heard the Elvis version. Scotty Moore’s instrumental version too. They both sound more rockabilly. The Kinks' arrangement seems different to me. Maybe they just cranked up the fuzz. This version seems to be the standard other acts have ...
This info is from a few weeks ago, so maybe it's old news to most here - but living under a rock, it's new to me. HBO is developing a show loosely based on Andrew Loog Oldham's "Stoned" and "2Stoned": http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118007324.ht...
Agreed.
The only Link Wray that seems to qualify in any way is Hidden Charms - which is neither an instrumental, nor does it feature Wolfman Jack. It does however showcase Link doing his best Howlin’ Wolf impression. You can throw this track into...
Good points Rod. To be honest, I don’t listen to the syndicated show all that often, but I agree that a guest host is preferable to a recycled show. I also think there is a degree of truth in your “favoritism” comment. Who knows what goes on in se...
The Detroit scene didn't really take off until the Beatles hit, but there were certainly a few noteworthy acts, including:
- The Del Tinos (Cub Koda),
- The Lourds (Ted Nugent)
- Billy Lee & The Rivieras (Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels)
Thanks for your thoughts Rockin Rod Strychnine. I certainly respect a well thought out reply. Perhaps you’re correct on all of your points. I personally don’t see much of a difference in the frequency of the stuff he plays now from the labels you ...
I just don’t understand the compulsion by some to blast Little Steven around here. Perhaps it’s human nature to cast aspersions at our neighbors? Hell, I recently read a comment from a Hound blog reader taking a shot at the GaragePunk Hideout. Tha...
Another movie of note is “That Thing You Do!”. It’s not from the 60’s, but from 1996. It’s written-by, directed-by and stars Tom Hanks, about a 60’s one-hit-wonder group called the Wonders. Great music send-ups of various 60's styles - from pop, t...

I wonder if this will ever get to court? The BBC has been doing this sort of podcast for years from their websites, does this company really think they can mess with the BBC? and I wonder if the person who did the first ever serialised podcast wil...
Interesting subject this one...
This might sound weird but the podcasts from here sound "warm" as opposed to full blown 256kps or 320kps Mp3's that sound crystal clear but somehow flat and lifeless.
I guess they get close to that dirty tape sound...
