Nope, Stronger Than Dirt was originally for the Ajax Detergent commercials in the 1960s, i believe.
I have a compilation album "Songs we taught the Mummies" and there's about six different versions of the song on it.
The version by Devo is alright but i think i prefer the one by Tom King and the Starfires. Its instrumental though :)
yeah, Uncontrollable Urge by Devo was the first version i heard of that song. I heard about the Mummies a few years later and loved their take on it.
Both The Mummies and Devo did versions of "Stronger Than Dirt" as well.
I'm sorry to say I haven't heard of your band before AND I live so close D-town. I'll be watching the papers for upcoming gigs. You guys ever make it to the Elbow Room in Ypsi??
Great entertainment start to finish, not one single dud, so it's going to be a difficult show to follow, Gents. (I'd forgotten just how good Dr John could be, this was a timely reminder to start digging in the vinyl vaults again)
