Being pretty rooted in the music of the 1960's, I am not a fan of current bands. By this I mean non-related 60's bands, BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, I absolutely love bands that take out time, effort and…Continue

Bio:
AGE 40, got into music at an early age, listening to me parents old 50s/60s records. by the age of 15 I had pretty much exhausted the well known records from this period.

Starting of as a Mod. I was heavilly into Soul, when your young and hungry for music, you aint too bothered about original 45s. This proved to be a good thing, as I bought a re- issue soul record, hidden on the other side was the Count Fives classic. This was a turning point musically.

With me first week wages age 16. I got my very first garage comp, of course this was a Pebbles but which one ? It was actually Vol 19 The Continent Lashes Back (Denmark)

With in a year a was hooked on this music, and would buy a comp each week, this was a great learning curve, along side this I was also picking up original 45s guided by the knowledge I was gaining from compilations.

Never been into modern music, not because I am tunnle visioned. I know what I like, and the non 60's bands I do like just happen to be influenced by the 1960's. In my personal opinion there has been two bands that stand out as the most authentic, these are The Mystreated & The Kaisers. But other bands that have also done a good job and deserve a mention are The Creeps, The Headcoats (and all the off shoots related to The Headcoates), The Wylde Mammonths, The Finks,The Sqaures, and the latest offering must be paul messis on State Records. This was pointed in my direction by a fellow Caveman, I tjhink he is on here as Thee Retroman

Apart from Garage I am huge fan of anything that I consider to be decent that was recorded between 54 - 68. I understand that genres help to describe certain styles. but I try not to use them, but here I will.

British Beat/R&B, European Beat/Garage, American Garage punk, Popcorn, Early American R&B/Big City soul,Northern Soul. Also freakbeat but I really really hate that term but you know what music I am talking about.

Nowadays I dont call me self or consider to be a Mod, or a cave man, swirly, or whatever desciption you wan t o use. I am just a chap that likes to look smart, and beleives that his ears deserve the very best in music, that neatly sums up the above Thanks for reading Ian grinham aka Gruesome Grinham

Searching for ex mambers of lost and forgotten bands that I personally like, and you cant read about in books. this stuff is important, and time is runniong out. i think the police call it stalking LOL

RECORD LABEL NEEDED TO ISSUE UNRELEASED ACETATES !

Posted on August 7, 2012 at 2:49am 0 Comments

That's right, on behalf of ex members of a band that cut 4 sides at Tony Pike's Studio, London in 1965. Two of the tracks are very similar to St Louis Union. The other two are similar to The Sons Of Fred. We have unseen photos, a fully story of a band that's never appeared on a compilation before. I have approached two labels already, but I want the bestdeal for these lovely chaps that have kindly put their trust in me. If anyone can suggest some labels please get in touch
