okay. i listen to duh, garage rock, psych, proto-punk, post punk, wild gypsy music, anything that has a jaguar down in the amazon beat.

out of those three: Sonic Nightmares# 20, stands alone.

Listening to Captain Beefheart...

Somebody gave me 19 Captain Beefheart records.
it's pretty daunting listening to a large body of work like this.
I can pretty much surmise that "post-punk" as we know it stemmed from Don Van Vliet.
It's blatantly obvious, really.
The Minutemen, Gang of Four, etc...
Also, Tom Waits gleaned much from the mans voice and just bare-bones blues...

Strange stories I've unearthed...

in 1991 Lai Siang Kwang from Singapore was convicted of keeping the cremated remains of 2,000 people in his bungalow.
it was Kwang's fourth similar conviction for "hoarding funeral urns" in his home.

After Thomas More's head was chopped off, parboiled and stuck on a pole on London Bridge in 1535, his daughter Margaret bribed a bridgekeeper to let her steal it and take it home - a crime for which she was later arrested and briefly imprisoned. the head was buried w/her when she died in 1544.
