Profile Information

Location:
Chicago , RPMF .
Relationship Status:
In a Relationship
Bio:
I'm that one guy.

I grew up watching my Brothers' bands play in the family garage , but , that was mostly Jazz-Rock and FM Hard Rock . I first found out about Garage Rock in the Late 70's , via an article in the UK magazine , Story of Pop , simply called "Punk Rock"(Published in '72 or '73 , I think.) , and a similar article in Creem. It was then that I realized Punk (Which was impossible to hear on the radio or in record stores , where I lived , but I READ a lot about it.)was'nt really something new at all. I began listening to Late 70's - Early 80'S Punk , Garage ,and Rockabilly around the same time , starting in 1980 , in High School. I was late for the party , and , yet , I arrived just in time. I had a radio show in Dallas in '86 , mostly Garage and Rockabilly. Since the late 80's , I've guest - DJ'ed on WHBK and WLUW in Chicago , and DJed in clubs in Chicago , spinning Garage , Rockabilly , Psych , Glam , 70's Punk , 50's Junk , Instros , Country (Hell , yes) , and other stuff you can't GIVE away. It has to be fun , or why bother?
In other pursuits with limited potential for profit , I've been performing live , under my own name , for over 25 years, and as Elvis From Hell and Neutron Prom before that. My firt little band was in 1982 , Born in an Elevator. Then, I had a Rockabilly band and a couple of Garage bands that never got off the ground. I function better with one - shot groups. Played with my good friend (Make him your friend , here.) Psycho * Davy as Sick , Sober and Sorry and The 13TH Floor Elvis Impersonators. Also , the otherwise all - girl Garage group , Daughters of Frankenstein , and Brian McMahon from The Electric Eels' solo group , Das Volt (W/ Sherrilynn from Velveteen Loveseat , Chris from Fuctional Blackouts and Henry , briefly with Sky Saxon.).
If anyone cares , I also sang backing vocals twice with Andre Williams and once with Screamin' Jay Hawkins , and have done guest vocals with some bands you've heard of , and others I wish you had......
I had a co -starring role in the Independent Kids' flick , "Chic - A - Go Go : The Movie" , am briefly visible in "The Big Bounce" , "Public Enemies", "Plastercaster: The Movie" , ""Bubble - Rama", and Rev. Horton Heat's "Wiggle Stick" video.

Favorite Show(s) on GaragePunk Pirate Radio:
I'll get around to hearing some , one of these days. I don't think I even have the software.

fIND THAT SONG , AT ALL COSTS.

If it got you thru the day 10 , 20 , 30 years ago ,and you don't have it , then , you have a quest.  It took me almost 30 years to find my song - "Strange Boutique" by The Monochrome Set. It was my song , in High School. I'D PLAY IT IN THE MORNING , AND I COULD FACE HIGH SCHOOL......"DOWN TO YOU" BY THE REAL KIDS HAD A SIMILAR EFFECT ON ME , BUT ,THANKFULLY , HIGH SCHOOL WAS NOT THE NOSTALGIC AFTERBIRTH SO MANY PEOPLE MAKE IT OUT TO BE. I REMEMBER WHERE I WAS WHEN I FIRST HEARD "KNOW YOUR PRODUCT " BY THE SAINTS , AND DRIVING AROUND , BLASTING TAPES OF GEORGE GIMARC'S SHOW (KZEW DALLAS .) , LIKE THE INTRO TO "THAT 70'S SHOW". OR , SOMETIMES IT WAS  A TAPE OF "BOZO'S BIRTHDAY PARTY".

MY ALMA COGEN IS HAVING IT'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION. KIND OF SAD.

Bugs Henderson Dies.

Posted on January 21, 2013 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

I JUST SAW , ON Eggman's post , that Bugs Henderson , former Mouse and The Traps Guitarist , and longtime popular Blues Guitarist/Singer on the Dallas club circuit , passed away recently. I have no information , as of yet. I was briefly in touch with Henderson when he was raising funds and staging a huge benefit show for Ronnie "Mouse" Weiss , who was in need of a Lung Transplant. This was a couple of years ago. Henderon's fiery Guitar licks enhanced such tunes as "Maid of Sugar , Maid of…

Lee Dorman , original Iron Butterfly Bassist , who played on their first four albums , and a Live LP , up until their breakup , returning to play in many , legitimate , versions of the band (Several touring bands used the name , sometimes with no original or even mk 2 or 3 lineup members , before the law was tightening up on such actions.), was found dead in his car. No foul play is suspected , as it turns out he had a history of heart trouble.

Dorman played in the classic lineup of…

Eddie Bertrand , Lead Guitarist for the early Surf/Instrumental groups , Eddie and The Showmen and The Bel - Airs , just passed away at the age of 67. There is'nt much more info at the time. Bertrand played Lead Guitar on hits like "Mr. Moto" and "Squad Car" (Still covered , in bitchen form , by Los Straitjackets.) , and commenced performing , again , during the largely California - based Surf music revival of the 80's  , which briefly went nationwide in '95 with the popularity of "Pulp…

okay, if I'll vacation in Bali, I will try to make a song. By the way, have you been to Bali, John?

wah steady, if there is a time please on holiday to Indonesia. many cultures here, in addition to the island of Bali, other cities also nice to visit, such as Borobudur temple in Jogjakarta, the floating market in banjarmasin, Ampera bridge in Palembang, Losari Beach in Makassar, and Raja Ampat in Papua island, and much more :)

hmm .. Ruby band, like I've never heard of it, may ask for information that band?
if the Tielman Brothers, I know, it was the 50's band indorock of Kupang - Indonesia. but they played a lot in the Netherlands at that time. The vocalist has just passed away in 2012. :)
