Can't agree more that Technics are definitely the way to go if you can afford them. Stanton do a couple of pretty reasonable (if a little less classy) alternatives which would save you a small wedge but it’s worth splashing out if you can. SL-1200s…

I wouldn't recommend buying a cheap player. I think Technics' SL-1200 series are good, but actually a new model is expensive, so... Mine is SL-1200MK3D and is very good!
