LOST SOULS Volume 2 Garage Psychedelic Rock from Arkansas and Beyond 1965-1971- VA (60s Garage/Psych) - Comp CD -
This compilation gathers unheard, unknown, and legendary garage and psychedelic rock from Arkansas and SE Missouri in the 1960s. PLUS for the first time the garage punk classic The Modds - Leave My House is sourced directly from a recently discovered reel to reel tape revealing more than ever heard before. Featuring finds from Variety Recording Studio (home of Alley Records) in Jonesboro, Arkansas and MORE. ALL tracks sourced from reel to reel tapes recovered from private collections of the original musicians and studio owners. Fifteen bands are featured in an extensive 20 page full color booklet including liner notes with details on EVERY band. The sounds contained within reveal a hidden history of garage and psychedelic music previously unknown to exist. Hear new sounds from the past ranging from primitive garage to heavy psych and beyond. As a result of researcher Harold Ott's findings, old bandmates and friends have reunited to discuss and celebrate the music of their past.
Lost Souls Volume 1 - Arkansas Garage and Psychedelic Rock 'N' Roll 1965-1971 is the first CD release by Psych of the South, an Arkansas based research project headed by local musician and record collector, Harold Ott.
The CD is the product of a year and a half of research into the garage groups that formed in Arkansas in the wake of the British Invasion. Bands from all over the state formed at this time to make their own records at a handful of studios scattered across the state.
Psych of the South is dedicated to uncovering the lost 1960s and early 1970s recordings of Arkansas. Through interviews with original band members, studio owners, and fans, Psych of the South is bringing new life to the sound of Arkansas' rich musical past with the Lost Souls Volume 1 CD.
Arkansas garage and psychedelic rock from 1965-1971. I love discovering new music and garage/psych of all varieties plus 60s Soul, R&B, Rockabilly, Early 70s hard rock, Real People, Incredibly Strange Music, Sick Hicks, and a variety of primitive, timeless, and cryptic sounds from the ether.
Thanks Eggman for digging the CD and playing in on the radio. That's a huge help man! Mad Mojo Marmalade thanks for all your support from the very start. I added a couple of pics that didn't make the liner notes for the Lost Souls Vol. 1 CD. I'll keep you guys up to date with what's going on here and on the v2 and G45 forums too. Enjoy!

Yay! Harold has arrived! We have now completed this circle of online friendship. This means that through all these avenues, Lost Souls & Psych of the South will always be on my radar. I really can't say enough how great the first edition is and the small & personable production scale from which it was born is quite the accomplishment. I'll always enjoy your labor of love & you already know I'm looking forward to what's to come from Arkansas. Giving much thanks & hoping you guys keep on discovering these gems for us!
Hey dude, Eggman here. I was trying to find your email so I could reply to you and let you know I got the CD without any problems, and that I love it!! It shall get plenty of airplay on my radio show. Thanks again!

Thanks for this Andy. I first saw this Doc at a screening after The Monks played in Zürich a couple of years ago (Dave was alive and kicking the banjo of course). I agree with you about the work done uncovering the older footage - very cool but I mu…
Daniel Ellcey Trying to configure my office to include a Lazyboy..moving my stereo equipment/turntable in there since wife is less than enthused w/ music.
way back in 1966 "96 Tears" was played to death on WMEX in Boston. It was ingrained on my 10-year-old brain. In high school in the early to mid 70s, I got made fun of by the teen cognosenti because the music I dug "wasn't complicated enough" I was v…
