We play loud. You jump around.
Shoo-bop. Shoo-bop.
Do the Living Deadbeat!![]()
When you think of a band called the Living Deadbeats, you might expect howling psychobilly. What you get, though, is distorted guitars and cranked up garage rock with grrrl attitude. The Vancouver-based punk band simply oozes classic influence: a sort of violent collision between Detroit and late 70s era L.A. punk, with a healthy dose of Pacific-Northwest swagger.
Singer Lindsay has been compared to Mia Zapata and Penelope Houston, and has a little of that Exene Cervenka thing going on; the rest of the band picks up somewhere between the Stooges and the Detroit Cobras. Other members of The Living Deadbeats include London-born, Pete Fiend (previously the lead singer for legendary 80s powerpoppers The Finks, and former bassist of The Fiends) on Bass/vox, Dirty Swagger (Dirty and The Derelicts) on Guitar/vox; and 19-year-old female drummer, Nadja (East Vamps).
The Living Deadbeats have self-released two EPs in 2010, and in August, two songs -Hey Girl/Liar Liar - were released as a digital single byDirty Water Records (U.K.).
2011 saw "Time" included on theSongs The Hideout Taught Us compilation.
2012 (so far) brings a new 12" vinyl (out June 15!) and a summer Canada tour... stay tuned!
