- APE CITY R&B started out in 2005 as a two piece version of our previous band Thee Curses. We ditched a bunch of songs and wrote some new ones. We've been down the west coast a couple times, playing BUDGET ROCK 4 at Thee Parkside/SF in 2005 and THE WASTED WEEKEND CRASHARAMA/Sacto in 2006 and later THE PORTLAND BENDER at Slabtown. We put out our first 45 "She's Candy-Coated" b/w "Oh Lil' Girl" in 2005 on our own label, "Jenasol Records" and since then several 45's have come out on different labels. Our songs have been played on KEXP's Sonic Reducer show as well as a whole load of GARAGEPUNK PODCASTS and even on WFMU by DAVE THE SPAZZ! Just in case ya don't know, ACR&B plays stripped down shit rock (or as the boys from LA-Ti-Da Records put it, "mud puddle and roll")! CHRIS VON CURSE SINGS AND PLAYS GUITAR and KENJO PLAYS THE BIG BEAT! Visit our site often for updates on when we might play. Meanwhile buy our damn records!
