melissa scott said… Imagine if you had only 6 weeks for the jokers who run for president there to make their case. I guess it wouldn't work the same way, as it's not a parliamentary system.
Only so much of the US model they can get in here, given it's the parties that run their peeps. We have some independents, but not a lot. They hold the balance of power at present. Next time round? It will get ugly here too, donchya worry 'bout that.
In the meantime, we have the new Joey Ramone album to look forward to. Nothing like something Ramones to lift my spirits. Hey, Ho LET'S GO!
melissa scott said… Campaign finance laws here -- govt finance of party ads -- and only 6 week campaigns are allowed.
Yup, what is spent in the US could feed millions. Cover health insurance for everybody prolly. How do those blokes look anyone in the face with any reality at all? My sympathies to you for having to endure campaign 2012.
Elections in France and Germany interesting...
In the meantime, we still have garagepunk. Unless someone decides having fun is against the bloody law!

Bar owners, they’re listening: A group of 23 record labels, including BMI, Universal, Sony and Paul Simon Music, filed a lawsuit April 9 in U.S. District Court in Portland against the owners of Coyote’s Bar & Grill in Hillsboro. The labels allege 13 instances of “willful copyright infringement” when the bar allegedly played songs last November without paying licensing fees. Said songs include: “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, “The Only…
