NOISE ANNOYS PODCAST

I used to do the Noise Annoys (and before that, Savage Kick) podcast, but I don't anymore. Who knows? Maybe someday I'll return to podcasting. Just no time right now!

Garage Monsters Wanted!!

Posted on June 13, 2012 at 9:30am 0 Comments

Creepy things, ghouls, monsters, vampires, zombies, MUMMIES! Is it any wonder why Halloween is our favorite day of the year? Well, this year Halloween will be extra special as we release our own compilation of songs that'll send shivers down your spine, get ya to shake your ass, annoy your neighbors, and be the soundtrack of your swingin' monster shindigs. That's right, we're taking submissions from ALL HIDEOUT BANDS/MUSICIANS* right now for…

I run this taco stand, but I am NOT the Help Desk! If you're experiencing a technical problem of some sort, you will need to report it to Ning, not me. Go to "About" (in the menu at the top of the network) and then click on "Help" in the drop-down menu.

GaragePunk.com was originally established on June 16, 2001, as the new home for my then-weekly radio program, The Wayback Machine (KDHX-FM 88.1 in St. Louis), which had previously existed online beginning on July 28, 1997. Later (beginning in August 2002), it got a lot of worldwide exposure because of the now-defunct GaragePunk.com Forums message board, which attracted a LOT of traffic to this site. Enough traffic, in fact, that I could begin selling banner ads to help pay for the rising hosting fees involved. After three years of having nothing more than a goofy pic and a "Pick Your Poison" menu on the root directory of GaragePunk.com, I realized I should do something more with the site, so I decided to turn it into an audioblog. Meanwhile, one of my oldest friends, Bill Streeter, thought it would be cool to start a music podcast on this site, and feature a rotating schedule of various garage/punk/rock'n'roll programs hosted by different people, kinda like a real radio station. The motherfucker read my mind! I'd been wanting to do something like this since my college days, and now, thanks to the Internet and RSS feeds, we could do it right here online. And thus, the GaragePunk Podcast Network was born (originally called GaragePunk.com Pirate Radio). This was all done with two major goals in mind: First and foremost, we wanted to try to do more to expose the music that we think is good (as well as featured on my radio show) but that most people have never heard simply because they don’t seek it out, have never been exposed to it before, or can't hear my show for one reason or another. Secondly, to encourage each and every one of you to support your local independently owned record stores, mailorder sites, and especially the indie labels that produce the vast majority of music featured here.

Thanks Kopper, representin' Palatine, Il on the map where The Shreds Of Evidence was formed. We've been gigging about 1+1/2 years and our bass player, Bill Dennis was actually in local 60s garage bands, having 10 years on the rest of us or more. The Young Lords and The Silencers (no releases). I will eventually get him to dig out some pix of this era. I hired guys that like Nuggets (even if they didn't know what that was) and have them doing a couple more obscure things. Next project- Give them a 90 min. cassette (what's that???) with all our kinda' comp cuts they don't know and have them each pick one they want to do. If they can't find one in a primo 90 min. stash, there's no hope. They will. Any more on this and I'm off to different area to post!

Yo Kooper! First, I really wanted to do my podcasting with GPHP 2 years ago but just can't get my head around all the techincal stuff involved. I'm presently trying to get to podcasting with Real Punk Rado and still can't sem to make it happen. I am not a lazy person trying to get someone to do my work but if someone can just help me set it up, from top to bottom, where I can just supply my shows, then I'm still interested...also, every thought of doing live shows? It's not that difficult with Shoutcast and you can always use an automation program to run some old shows/music to fill in the gaps. I am sure you will get loads of people listening in and have more punters join GPH. I am presently about to go back to London and I am confident this time I will get my Trash Can show, as unprofessional and raw as it s on the BBC's 6Music. i have jazed up my Linkedin profile and amazing how many people have contacted me and Connected with me since, especially some producers and program directors interested to meet with me ina few weeks. It that happens I will always keep doing shows for the interent because what you cannot do on national or local terrestial radio (AM,FM DAB) you can get way and fun with on interent shows! Get back via my email at mail@thetrashcan.co.uk   All the best and keep the flag flying!
