OK... i'mnot even sure i wanna mention this band on this website, but the ULTIMATE overrated garage band has to The Hives.

oh The Fuzztones! How can band with such a great name be so mediocre, they aint bad but they are good, i could never listen to one of there records all the way through... way too overrated.

I'd say the Fuzztones, but I don,t think garage s mainstream enough to really have overrated bands. But I think The White Stripes could count.
