About Me:
I've been heavily obsessed with Psychotronic (tm) films and outta control weird music since childhood. Since then my actual life has taken on a distinctly weird Addams-family-esque B-movie drive in flavor.

All the people I know are musicians, beatniks, hillbillies etc.

I've worked in chemical laboratories most of my career but I have designed album covers, print ads, and wrote copy.

Sports and disco do not enter my universe.

Rarities Obscurities and Hen's Teeth

I heard about a Detroit band called THE UP who a record store clerk in Kutztown, PA said were as good as the Stooges. I finally tracked down KILLER UP. Great sound, inept playing but with a slight bit of the savagery at bay. FRANCOIS HARDY was "The 'Yeah Yeah' Girl of Paris" who released albums of charming echoey folk in the 60's and haunted my dreams after seeing her scopitones after a late night of partying. Flash forward to the 90's and this older, but still relevant woman recorded a harder r… Continue

Return of the BLOG

Just found a Holy Grail album for me for download on Amazon from 60's folk ingénue FRANCOIS HARDY. I read about it in the great must have book UNKNOWN HEROES OF ROCK 'N ROLL where it said that the former IT girl of Paris recorded an Iggy-like hard rockin' album at the age of 50 (!?) I'm listening to it right now.

GUILTY (MAYBE) PLEASURES

In heavy rotation right now is the new Beatles Mono Masters, EXILE ON MAIN ST. (the perennial fall atmosphere album), STICKY FINGERS, and the relentless violi… Continue

Just Some Thoughts as I Have Much Less Time on My Hands

I got called back to work, so the vast ocean of free time has shrunken into a puddle.

Anyone interested in a real movie mag like PSYCHOTRONIC VIDEO in PDF format please contact me to let me know of your interest. If enough people want it I'll put out a monthly (or as often as I can) mag which you can print out and read on the crapper, on the subway or anywhere.

Musicwise, I know I'll get in a lot of trouble for saying this and I can hear the cries of "sellout!" already, but I've really… Continue

O Lucky Man! (Warner, 73)

D/P/A: Lindsay Anderson, S: David Sherwin, P/A: Michael Medwin, M: Alan Price
If you've seen Clockwork Orange enough to get the subtle touches of humor all the way through it then you'll probably enjoy this. I've read a lot of reviews but none that convinced me the reviewer actually saw the movie. Malcolm McDowell looks and acts the same as he did in his previous film in this long (about 3 hours) story of Mike (Mick) who starts as a coffee salesman and inherits the territory of a veteran… Continue

Hello!

It's been work work work here, as well as being married to academia. I'm currently preparing to write my master's thesis, which incidentally is going to be about Southern Gothic literature and gender.

What else has happened? I have moved to a different apartment, finished one degree, started on another, and had three different jobs. I seem to be going out once every few months rather than once a week. In two days, I will be halfway to 48, and I am beginning to feel it.

Hey ZT - I just got back myself fron Fla, and Norcal. Woggles are in Japan, King Khan plays (or palyed) here soon, Tiger! Tiger! is tonight at The Earl. From what I can tell in my limited time back, there has been an almost complete changing of the guard. Bound to happen, and it's good to see some younger faces give the scene a kick in the pants. The old guard is still here, but seems to be playing a lot more infrequently. Ah, well, a little less time at the bar never hurt anyone .... really, it ain't that bad ...

Hey man...we know each other. I used to work at Intermezzo. I think you were a regular.

Rock. I love how I leave Cola-Town and then a Psychotronic film society starts up. We have one in D.C., but it is on Monday nights in Alexandria and it's hard to get all the way over there from NW DC in time.
