MORE MEDWAY MAGIC

Hey, you - yes, you! Ever heard of the Len Price 3? No?!? Of course you have! You've heard their music, it's been used (albeit slightly doctored) on a recent television advert for Southern Comfort. See? You do remember! And for the benefit of my lovely readers Stateside, their music appeared in…

Who was first?

I just added a movie of Vince Taylor whose bio can be seen here.

and here

http://www.rockabilly.nl/artists/vtaylor.htm

I personally think that he's a bit underestimated. His looks at least have influenced lots of artists

Gene Vincent

Les Chats Sauvages

Alvin Stardust

and some more whom I can't remember.

I wonder who was the first with this leather image?

Pink Floyd

So I' recently downloaded and re-downloaded Pink Floyd's Saucerful of Secrets and Meddle: both are relaxing, fun, and have opening tracks that each have grand guitar work courtesy of David Gilmour. So yes, I enjoy some Pink Floyd. There I said it.

Outta school!

So summers here and so far, I've been surveying the music landscape (read sitting at my computer listening to downloads) and here's the insight I can offer for now :

Rage Against the Machine is fairly overrated. With the exception of Down rodeo, Bullet in the head, and Know your enemy, Zach De La Rocha sounds like a poor man white boy version of Chuck D.

Georgia

I was in Georgia Thurs-Sunday and all I must say is.... I got stared at consistently for my "repulsive" outfits which consisted of mini-dresses and tights, which is pretty conservative where I live in California. Crazy southerners, you make the Black Lips look bad! I was hoping for a garage rock scene or something of similar matter, but there's nothing in Savannah except a creepishly-expanding-corrupted art school called SCAD which has a very dark past.

Parties That Suck

Parties always sound more exciting than they really are. You go there with high expectations and don't worry, you'll always be let down. There was the party where the TV played a DVD of "Wizard of Oz" with some lousy Pink Floyd album droning in the background LOUDER than it had to be. THAT'S NOT FUN.

Or the industry party where instead of everybody laughing about the fun they had on a shoot or spreading funny gossip everybody's busy passing… Continue

Cowboys and Double-neck Danelectros

So I'm standing in a waiting room and I see the Beverly Hillbillies playing on a tv across the room. The grandpa is doing an Elvis dance in a gold cowboy suit with a double-neck Danelectro guitar.. Of course I was thinking that it would be great stuff for a cut-up clip video or something. Then later tonight, while looking at a band on myspace, I see this from the Monochrome Set page:

Why do random things happen like that? I have no… Continue
