Each month, since Feb of 2006, I start a playlist in my iTunes of the tunes that catch my ear that month. I started off writing a post to my Mog page with a short review or comments of each track, not only to keep a running diary for myself, but also to hopefully point others toward these tunes. In the last several months I have started to cross post this information on other sites where I keep blogs. (If you are reading this somewhere besides Mog, you can find all the old ones at…

I'm going to try and post my radio show from time to time. It's 2 hours of freeform music that covers 60 years worth of stuff that's been released, not released and stuff that probably should not have been released. Let me know what you think of the show. You can also check out my My Space page that gives the playlists of each show. Hope to hear from some people. The latest show posting is from June 19th. If this works well I'll post more.

Sonic Nightmares #11
Hosts: Gringo Starr & Reverend Beat-Man

The Reverend Beat-Man takes the wheel this episode, producing the podcast through a telephone from the Voodoo Rhythm Records Headquarters. Expect scratchy 78s, Blues, ’60s Euro-pop, trash, instrumental and anything else Beat-Man has found at the thrift shop lately. For mature audiences only!…

The Trick Noise Makers are a band you may have heard of. Back on the scene after a recent sabbatical, the trio of Louise Howlett (lead vocals, guitar), Alan Walshe (bass, vocals) and Greg Pugh (drums) have got back together for the first gig with a fourth member, Parsley, on keyboards.
Armed with Danelectros and a part-functioning Vox Continental that was swapped at the last minute for a less-than-vintage Yamaha synth, they took to the…

Gadzooks! Is this episode stooopid.
Coal E. Manuel tried to hijack the show at the beginning. Coal is my cat. I got rid of him just after he convinced me to play “Cat Hop” by the Dodgers. Also played (but not limited to) this go-round was The Fantastic 3, Jay Blue, Tav Falco’s Panther Burns, Les Bruisers, The Painted Ship, The 1-4-5s, The Wolfmen, and the absolute genius of The South Bay Surfers!
I’ve been thinking about cutting future shows’ running time in half (around…

I've named this week's podcast
Door Into Summer.
This episode contains the MONKEES track of the same name, as well as other mid-60's blasts from the likes of THE SPRINGFIELD RIFLES, THE COUNT FIVE and THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION.
We also get our inner Darkness on with THE HORRORS, KILLING JOKE and SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES (represented here with a portion of her 'JuJu' album from 1981).
New stuff from Vancouver's…

Duke Eastwood has spent the last week at Malibu Beach gathering the inspiration for this new episode of the
GaragePunk Surfcast. Now, he passes this Soundscape of sun-burnt skin onto you. Feel the salt water in your eyes and pressure buildup in your ears no matter where you are. Feel the waves crush you to death as you realize…

Dear God, I'm frantic over the recent happenings among the Dead Kennedys:
First, the current singer guy leaves over a row about the band's future and according to him, they hired another singer behind his back: http://www.punknews.org/article/28168 And the little comment from David Cruz doesn't help.
Second, Klaus Flouride quits cos of angioderma: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Kennedys#Reforming_of_new_band_line-up
And then there's this article:…

Yesterday The Cheaters from Norway played at the famous Waterfrontclub here in Rotterdam. It was on the first Thunderdays reunion night and they were awesome. A greasy tubedriven guitarsound kicked me in the face. Who needs PA in a Café? This trio really knows how to entertain. I bought their new album and maybe i'm gonna visit their show in Cafe SWAF in Hoorn this sunday.
Next week PRIMITIVE!!! volume 5 here in Rotterdam. I'm looking forward to see LOS PEYOTES.
Laterrr Trash.…

I saw the Growlers on Saturday, danced on stage etc and went home with the lead singer of "Some Days" who is 27 mind you I'm 18. What fun, what a night. Hung out with hipsters all night. I finally found the local hipsters, and guess what-They're all COKE AND METH ADDICTS!
Hey, they have good music taste and the "bros" across the street got beaten to death (not literally) by the cops.
I graduate from high school tomorrow, wish me luck!

Okay, so I downloaded and listened to a bit of Tom Waits' storytellers and though I loved the way he talks and very much enjoy his sense of humor, I just cannot get past his singing voice. I want to like him: his pressance is cool, his personality is endearing,but..but.. Ah hell, I guess it's that I like everything about him but his singing!

Just added a cool video of Gene Vincent singing "Be bop a lula" whilst clad in a leather outfit just like Vince Taylor. Or was good old Gene earlier in this fashion choice of the eternal juvenile delinquent?
Maybe we should have a department where you can show your favorite and coolest leather jacket here. I bet that nearly everyone here has one. What about it there must be enough space to show of our cool attire.
