So, I saw the movie "Pirate Radio" or "The Boat That Rocked" recently and thought I'd share some of my opinions & thoughts on it;
Of course, I loved it by personal-interest default. Although, I must be quite honest, the theatre version is pretty damn rated because, when I was drooling over the trailer for it months ago, I was seeing clips from the film t…

I stumbled across some "Home Video Footage" of The Haunted not too-too long ago. I don't know about you but, this group of raunchy Canadians have to be one of my all time favorite garage-punk bands of all time and, there is a good flippin' reason why they are on almost every compilation and, why almost every neo-sixties-garage-punk band has, or would like to cover them. I mean seriously, you can't get much more badass than covering The Music Machine's birth of psych-garage, madness, trac…

SKY SUNLIGHT SAXON,
has left us and opened a great hole in the garage music world,
i'm one of the lucky few that got to meet him, in thun switzerland he fronted the Dragonslayers, which were the bassist and guitarist of the first line up of the Miracle Workers, and Mars Bonfire (yes the one who wrote "born to be wild") on organ, i videotaped the whole show
it was an unforgettable amazing show, i never experienced anyone more charismatic on stage and off stage then Sky i don't think he was…

Those familiar with 60's garage rock, British Invasion and psychedelic bands are probably also familiar with the Group Sounds, or simply GS, movement in Japan in the late 60's. The Nuggets II set highlights The Mops and other groups like The Tigers and The Spiders have at least become familiar names to us in the West. Recently, Japan has scene a resurgence in older homegrown types of music including Showa Pop, Kayoukyouku (pop Songs) and of course GS. And the most popular band bringing back this…
