A Duo of Stories on the Dex Romweber Duo

Back in January when President Obama was inaugurated, I spent a couple days with the Family Romweber. It snowed in Chapel Hill, setting the scene for a fab slumber party with Sara with little brother Dex popping in during the day. We had a fine time, and I was the first writer who was ever a guest at their mother's home. That's a lotta trust. I hope I did justice to that and tell a good yarn.

This first one came out in the March '09 issue of Stomp and Stammer.

Then things got nutty, and Perfect Sound Forever ran my second piece.

Hope they're illuminating reads!

First off, stellar articles there Grrtch!

Now, I ain't lookin' fer a fight, but after multiple listens of both recent DRD albums I just think that Blues That Defy My Soul kicks the crap outtaRuins of Berlin...and the fact that Ruins out sold Blues may have to do in large part with the difference of labels and promotion (I mean god love Yep Roc but they are no match fer the juggernaut that is Bloodshot)

I will always be a Dex fan, but like his idols the Cramps, I'll stick with the early material and ignore the latter...

& here comes the shit storm...

glad ya dig the stories, Wipey!

Both of them did concede that this is a more sophisticated record, that it's subtleties might be lost on fans wedded to only primal sounds. I'm a big fan of Ruins tho... I like the breadth of styles. Blues all kinda blurred together for me, like a fuck that went by way too fast. :P

"Blues all kinda blurred together for me, like a fuck that went by way too fast."

hahaha...sometimes a fast fuck is in order...not that I'd know a thing about that.

No matter, just glad that Dex is continuin' to create monstrous music (w/ help from big sis)...I'd love to hear tunes from Blues played live with her on the traps...alas, no shows in SC (per usual, natch)
