Back in the Winter of 2010, we had a math rock band 2 piece (bass/drums) Portamanteau renting out rehearsal space in the house. They'd rock out, then we would all get shitfaced in our pseudo-basement/garage. When it came time for them to play a show, we decided to honor our alcoholism with the name The Facement. It was not quite a basement, not quite a garage, but definitely an excellent place to get faced. Although I don't advocate binge drinking (unless you like hangovers and a good time), the name stuck.
I am only one member of the house, and we are only one house in the Humboldt area that hosts house shows. There are more of us. In fact, the DIY scene here is growing. As you can see here:

I fucking love it. I've been helping the underground music scene since my days volunteering at the Epicentre in San Diego. Now that I'm established up north, it's nice to get involved in what I truly love. Arcata, being smack dab in the middle of the 101 route between Portland and San Francisco, is a prime West Coast touring spot.
So hit me up if you're looking for a show. I'd love to help.
Cheers!
