SIC ALPS/FREAKAPUSS - NEW TRAWGS III/HERE TODAY HERE TOMORROW
For this time around, Sic Alps are positively in the company of an incredibile man: Zarjaz, the TRONICS' leader! Sic Alps and Zarjaz handle themselves thusly, treating us to an anthemic, sleek, self-assured, and nicely twisted cut! Freakapuss make their impressive vinyl debut, full of guitar, congas, percussion and acid-tongued vocals. Nice!

COLEMAN, JOHN WESLEY - TRANS-AM SUMMER BLUES
Coleman's equally bizarre and amazing rock 'n roll records have been previously released on Goner Records and Daggerman, but here;s a different affair alltogether. Huge in scope of emotion and sound, with a large studio band (pianos, horns, weird, and other, unidentifiable noises) and written during a period of personal loss, and well, a period of "being John Wesley Coleman", the results are epic and mature. On 180-gram vinyl, including a high quality digital download.
DOMNICKS - SUPER REAL
Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger 'n' roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard's pedigree boasts 80's Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones' replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. In 2007 the pair teamed up with Howard Shawcross (The Elks, The Riptides) on bass and Marz Frisina on drums, quickly developing into a very 'hang loose' combo. Playing a mix of Dom and Nick's originals with a spread of 60's and 70's garage and soul classics, they are a band of seasoned players punching well above their collective musical weight. Super Real continues in the tradition of The DomNicks' previous recording, Hey Rock 'n' Roller (Off The Hip 2009). Expanding on Hey Rock 'n' Roller's gutsy guitar driven sound, Super Real takes a ride through blues, soul, funk, and classic guitar pop influences to create one seamless musical journey fuelled by the vim and vigour of a noble era. Among the 12 tracks you'll find the Exile era Stones' sound of Reconcile, the brazen brass and swing of Let's Go Baby, soul flavours in I Wonder What You're Doin' Now, the straight ahead rollicking of Miracle and tantalising twists and turns of the electric sitar driven Winter. It's bound to cause the head and heart to shake.
ELECTRIC PRUNES - STOCKHOLM '67
Recorded in Sweden '67, this collection showcases US garage-psyche legends The Electric Prunes at their very best. Over-amplified, fuzzed to the max, explosive, noisy, mind bending and totally wild!

JOHN THE CONQUEROR - JOHN THE CONQUEROR
The trio from Mississippi, now based in Philly, have the smoothness of classic 50s soul mixed with a southern twang. Named after an African-American mythological folk legend, of whom the likes of Dr. John, Muddy Waters, and Willie Dixon have sung, the band possesses a magical power that empowers emotion. They will bring you from the church to the juke joint in fourquick minutes.
JONES, JIM -REVUE- - SAVAGE HEART
On The Savage Heart, the bands third studio LP, Jones and his cohorts have broadened their scope a little, adding to the frenzied blues stomp theyve become known for with forays into doo-wop ballads and call-and-response hollers. Theres still an over-riding sense that these tracks are waiting to be heard on stage before they can truly take flight, but theres still plenty here to suggest that The Jim Jones Revue are more than beefed up rock and roll revisionists.

ROYAL HANGMEN - ROYAL HANGMEN
Hailing from Zurich, THE ROYAL HANGMEN started eight years ago to proclaim the gospel of garage rock. First a simple cover-band, they soon found their own style and tunes and finally some attention amongst the international 60s/retro scene. Their first 45 single Mary Jane was released back in 2009 on Greek label Lost In Tyme. Lots of concerts in France and native Switzerland followed thereafter, culminating in a support slot for the mighty SONICS. It took them some time to record their first proper album, but it was definitely worth the wait. So get on your go-go boots, put that marvellous wax on the turntable and shake your hips to the driving Turn Me On, the frantic Mary Jane, the melodic Shes Gone or Get Out Of My Way and all the other smashing tracks on this record, until you reach the final comedown with the moody, psychedelic "Wake Up". What a trip. If you go bananas listening to bands like the SHADOWS OF KNIGHT, the ZAKARY THAKS, the BAD SEEDS, the CYNICS and the STAGGERS, this ones for you babe! Its fab! Its groovy - Its THE ROYAL HANGMEN!
SUGAR STEMS - CAN'T WAIT
Could there be a title more suitable for a new record by our beloved SUGAR STEMS than "Can't Wait"? This is exactly how most of us - i.e. people with a soft spot for a well-crafted, non-pretentious pop-song - felt constantly while we have been eagerly awaiting a new album by Milwaukee's finest. Granted, there have been two singles released on Certified PR a little earlier this year which ripped every powerpop-aficionado apart, but in a cultural realm that is filled with flavorless white bread, possibly not even a SUGAR STEMS single could fill your belly. So we digested that charmingly poppy gems pretty soon and have been hungry for more of their artistic handcraft since.

WAVES OF FURY - THIRST
Thirst is the debut album from Somerset based Waves Of Fury. Having already made an excellent early impression with taster single Businessmans Guide To Witchcraft, earning them a Guardian New Band Of The Day & Q Track Of The Day in the process, this 10 track debut long player sees Carter Sharp (vocals), Bim Williams (horns), Fil Ward (guitars/vocals), James Macphee (drums) and Jamie Bird (pianos/vocals) take up the rhythm & blues blueprint and filter it through a 40+ year historical path that encompasses everything from Motown& Stax to The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Spiritualized & The Mary Chain. Its a sonic blast of an album, and a welcome breath of fresh air. "Its a trashy, energetic, frenzied blur of soul, punk and classic rock n roll" - Altsounds.
