ADAMYK, STEVE -BAND- - TAKE IT BACK
After playing in Sedatives and the Million Dollar Marxists, Steve Adamyk started a new group as a vehicle for his solo material and named it the Steve Adamyk Band, fleshing out the band with three of the four former members of Sedatives. The tunes took their influence from 70s British punk and 80s power pop, and the group added a gritty style popularized by modern acts like Jay Reatard, Exploding Hearts and Marked Men. After releasing few 7"s (on P.Trash, Red Lounge and Taken by Surprise), the band put out a self-titled full-length on P.Trash in 2010. The following year, the Steve Adamyk Band toured Europe, performed at SXSW and finished their sophomore album, Forever Won't Wait, which was released by Portland, Oregon's Dirtnap Records in November of 2011.

VARIOUS - ACE STORY, VOL. 5
The Ace label of Jackson, MS, embodies all that was good in late 50s/early 60s good time R&B and rock'n'roll. Our digital upgrade of the fifth volume in UK Aces original vinyl Ace (Ms) Story is every bit as good as the four that have preceded it. 15 of the original 16 tracks of the vinyl album (one was not available for license for this reissue) are again present and correct, along with a further nine tracks from the same era that are making their Ace debut. Rather than just go back and use the original vinyl album tape, all the tracks are from fresh transfers of Ace founder Johnny Vincent's original master tapes where they are still in existence, or freshly redubbed vinyl where they are not. Almost all of the US Ace labels biggest names appear on this volume, which features several tracks that were not issued at the time of their recording. We expect to expand and round off this series in 2013 with a sixth volume of tracks have never been on UK Ace CD before - including some more previously unissued sides. Tracklisting: 1. WELL I NEVER GET TIRED - Johnny Fairchild 2. EDUCATED FOOL - Huey Piano Smith and his Clowns 3. HEY HEY BABY COME HOME - Albert Scott 4. BABY SAY YOU WILL - Jesse Allen 5. VARIOUS - FEELIN' HIGH: THE PSYCHEDELIC SOUND OF MEMPHIS
Memphis is well known as the birthplaces of the blues, the fount of southern soul - and the locale that begat rock'n'roll. The city boasted a healthy rock scene well into the 1960s and 1970s, but few retrospectives have documented Memphis music in the psychedelic era when, as a major recording centre, it was the nexus not just for local freaks, but those from neighbouring Arkansas, Mississippi and beyond. Big Beats "Feeling High - The Psychedelic Sound Of Memphis" shines a welcome light on this long-neglected area, and its survey is based principally upon the work of two renowned Memphis mavericks. With a decades-long career as an iconoclastic musical polymath, Jim Dickinson needs little introduction. However, his rarely-discussed apprenticeship as a producer at Ardent Studios in the late 1960s made Dickinson responsible for many of the wildest and wackiest sessions ever held in Memphis. Some excerpts slipped out at the time on obscure singles on Stax and elsewhere, but much remains unreleased, such as the album Jim cut at Ardent with Knowbody Else, later known as Black Oak Arkansas. In contrast, James Parks was a young wet-behind-the-ears punk who took over the control room at his uncle Stan Kesler's Sounds Of Memphis studio in 1968, bringing in his freak friends from counterculture hotspots like the Bitter Lemon. Park's production work ran to groups like the Changin' Tymes, Mother Roses and Triple X, featuring future country star Gus Hardin, as well as some crazoid studio-only experiments like Rubber Rapper and Shoo Shoo Shoo Fly, all done under his Memphis Underground Music Association umbrella. Dickinson and Parks represent the outer edge of the Memphis music scene in those years, and whilst the vast majority of tracks on "Feeling High" have not been issued before, their inspired lunacy makes the recorded evidence very special. Local notables including the Poor Little Rich Kids, 1st Century and Goatdancers share the tracklisting, and the detailed liner notes spill the beans on this fascinating slice of Memphis music history. Compilation and note by Alec Palao. Tracklisting: 1. RUBBER RAPPER - Sealing Smoke 2. FOR YOUR LOVE - Honey Jug 3. BLUE MUSIC BOX - The Changin' Tymes 4. SECRET STORM - The Knowbody Else 5. SPARE ME - Triple X 6. HOLY DAYS - The Wallabys 7. SHOO SHOO SHOO FLY - Greg McCarley 8. HARK THE CHILD - The Changin' Tymes 9. COME ON ALONG AND DREAM - The Poor Little Rich Kids 10. EAT ME ALIVE - The Goatdancers 11. CRAZY MAN'S WOMAN - Greg McCarley 12. DEJA VU - Judy Bramley 13. FREE SINGERS ISLAND - The Knowbody Else 14. FEELING HIGH - The Wallabys 15. ROCKIN' IN THE SAME OLD BOAT - Triple X 16. I NEED LOVE - The Poor Little Rich Kids 17. TICKET TO RIDE (NOT ON CONTRACT) - Mother Roses 18. OGDEN - David Mitchell 19. IF YOU'RE THINKING - Greg McCarley 20. OLD MAN - The Wallabys 21. WERE IN TOWN - The Goatdancers 22. DANCING GIRL - 1st Century 23. FLYING HORSE OF LOUISIANA (LIVE) - The Knowbody Else 24.
