RIP to YET ANOTHER MUSIC VENUE in Adelaide. Seems the developers just can't get enough. And this is one incredibly beautiful old building.
Me, I'm feeling too sick at the moment to say anything else right now. You'll excuse my brevity.

Comment by IDON MINE on February 21, 2012 at 4:35am Aw no, sorry to hear that. Places like that really make a local scene live - it sucks bad to see them go. Altough I understand that it's impossible to replace this, I hope you can find a new hideout sometime.

Update: since the news broke on FUbook and other places online, the proprietors of the venue have been overwhelmed with support for their business and are hopeful they may find another place in the CITY to move to, rather than having to shut entirely. Here's to hoping the City Council has their shit together. I don't know how far they are into the developers' pockets. I guess we'll all find out soon enough.
The central part of the City is one giant block of ho-tels. That the City Council approved yet another one beggars belief. The Jade Monkey is in amazing bluestone building, which should be preserved.
Comment by dave on February 21, 2012 at 5:38pm Hope they can relocate! I saw so much of the same thing happen in Austin. Even if the next business to move in was a bar or restaurant you lose that venue forever. Many punk places go on to become upscale sites, lotsa $$ involved. Happens to some Queer clubs, too.
