I played a gig with the Mantawrays in the Junction a few years ago. They're ace! I'll have to try and catch 'em again sometime. Are you in Los Imbasils? you're ace too. I'll have to see about getting you a gig in Cardiff if I can.

I see Los Imbasils are playing Dublins fair city in October, any chance that you'll be making the trip over too? I'll bring you around some of my watering holes in the city.

Alright, thanks again for your help.

I’m only really in the planning stage for my dissertation, so I’m still not exactly sure how I’m going to be approaching it.
I’m doing a politics degree, with a module on the politics of the arts, which got me thinking about the whole cold war / mccarthyism / sci-fi thing (in all honesty I was really just racking me brain to try and think of an idea that meant I could spent all next year watching films rather than studying global economic relations or whatnot…) the basic idea was to explore how sci-fi was reflecting the paranoid culture of the time and, in many cases, offering the only real area that writers could explore the issues surrounding the clash between communism and american democracy.
I’m really just looking for relevant films and literature and so on at the minute to help me work out a clearer plan.
Also trying to decide whether or not to talk about the atomic creature features (the good ol’ radiation + animal = fucking big animal) which are certainly a reflection of the immediate fear of nuclear war but don’t necessarily talk about the cold war in the same way

Alright,
Thanks for replying to my post about the red scare and 50s sci-fi films.

I know this is a fucking huge long-shot but I don’t suppose you remember any books or the like on the subject from back when you did your course?

Obviously don’t worry if not just thought I’d try me luck...

Cheers Man.
