I saw Cab play halftime at a Harlem Globetrotters game in Oklahoma City when I was in grade school in the mid '60s. I'd never heard of him, but my grandmother, who took me was really into him. He twisted by young Okie head off when he sang "It Ain't Necessarily So" (from Porgy and Bess). "The things that you're liable to read in The Bible/It ain't necessarily so." I didn't know people were allowed to say things like that in public (especially a Black man in Oklahoma in the '60s!) Cab was the coolest!
