About Me:
I'm just a big teenager who moved to Toronto from Thunder Bay, Ontario in 2001 after meeting my New Yorker soul-mate Deena on the mighty Bomplist. We dig loads of trash culture and foisting our rockin' records upon an unsuspecting audience each week on our radio show - Real cool Time - heard every Tuesday at 6 p.m. (eastern) on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto or www.ciut.fm worldwide. Comments and requests welcome: realcooltime@sympatico.ca

I also happen to be blind, so please excuse the relative lack of visual stimulation!

Real Cool Time Wexing Nostalgic!

Hey, This week Rocky and Deena paid tribute to the recently-departed Jerry Wexler, the Atlantic Records mogul and producer who originally coined the term Rhythm and Blues. Here's how we went frantic for Atlantic: Big Joe Turner—Shake Rattle & Roll (Wexler on backing vocals) Don Covay—Bip Bop Bip The Clovers—Your Cash Ain’t Nothin’ But Trash LaVern Baker and Jimmy Ricks—You’re the Boss *The Smugglers—That is Rock and Roll Richie Barrett—Some Other Guy *The Gruesomes – Unchain My Heart The… Continue

Real cool Time Mixed Bag of Hammers!

Hey, This week Rocky and Deena mixed it up starting with Asheton Brothers' Stoogemania via New Race and Sonic's Rendezvous Band followed by Cancon courtesy of Teenage Head, the Green Hour Band and the Sparrow. We featured vintage metal masters Judas Priest and Motorhead and also popped some bubblegum with Dino, Desi & Billy, the Fevers and the Lolas. We found a way-cool commercial for the movie "Shaft" to sandwich in between a couple Isaac Hayes (RIP) compositions covered by the Primordia… Continue

Real Cool Time Stoogemania!

Hey, This week Rocky and Deena paid tribute to the band responsible for the name of our show and for embodying the raw power that keeps us going back to the rock and roll funhouse! So we warmed up for the August 6 live Stooges performance at Massey Hall with tons of tough tuneage, by the band itself, Iggy's pre-Stooge groups (the Iguanas and the Prime Movers) and of course a few Canadian Stoogey-sounding spins. And yes, we know there are more than Three Stooges! (nyuk nyuk nyuk) Check out th… Continue

Real Cool Time: Psych of the Psouth Pspecial!

Hey, This week Rocky and Deena presented a razorback-sharp look at the lost and found souls of rock and roll from Arkansas along with other swingin' southern fried sounds. A couple lucky listeners even won copies of the terrific feature compilation called Lost Souls Vol. 1: Garage and Psychedelic Rock & Roll from Arkansas, 1965-1971, courtesy of the fine folks at www.psychofthesouth.com Along with the lost Souls, Yardleys, Coachmen, the Blue and the Gray, Marion Deaton Group, Xciters, G… Continue
